    In this thread we'd like to track all the 3rd party add-ons that are being updated, not new releases! Below are a list of add-ons we know will work in Prepar3D v4. As you find add-ons that are compatible, please don’t hesitate to post in this thread so we can update the growing list of add-ons and Developers that support P3D v4. Fun fact, in v4 your add-ons are kept OUTSIDE of the P3D directory, allowing for swift re-installs in the future and much better curation of your library!   Did you find an add-on that works?     Cheers Guys! I created a new PTA and ReShade preset that, i think, looks very neutral and realistic overall and i would like to share them with you and hear your opinions! Down below you`ll find a short video that gives you some impressions. Download links are in the video description. Also there is a link to my Tutorial video on how to install ReShade the way i use it, with an additional effect from Mr. Predrag Drobac's URP1.1. (Lightroom.fx) I implemented as much of the ReShade shaders directly into the PTA preset. So ReShade isnt really needed, but recommended to get the exact same result as me. ReShade effects in use: "Ambient light", "Lightroom" (From URP1.1) It is REALLY, REALLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you use my PTA preset together with the Sky Textures that are linked in the video description!     Hi, There is a reason I like Steam. Every single purchase is listed in the library of the application. This is not the case with Flight Sim downloads. Every single download got a standalone installer, and if you do not organize them, they tend to get lost on your drive. And who haven't searched through your email account to find that key for the plane or scenery you remember you bought a while ago? And that add-on tool, what was it again? Did I buy it? I would very much like to get some ideas on how you are organizing your content. What kind of structure are you using? Do you use programs or do you use maps? Are you using gmail as the organizer? Let us hear how you are doing it. Myself, and I guess many others would really like to get some advice and tips on the topic! Everything on the desktop is an option, but not very recommended.

    INTRODUCTION: FreeMeshX is a global terrain mesh replacement for the stock terrain mesh and features LOD10 (38-m) coverage for almost the entire world. LOD10 is equal to the same terrain level of detail used for the USA in the stock scenery. The rest of the world varies from LOD6 to LOD9. FreeMeshX was created to bring the rest of the world up to the LOD10 standard as much as possible, although some regions of the world in the higher latitudes are still limited to LOD9 (76-m). Compiling the source data into LOD11 yields neglibible improvements and is mostly a waste of precious hard drive space. FreeMeshX features LOD10 (38-m resolution) coverage for: North America (LOD10 Canada is released in this mesh - default USA is already LOD10, so USA is not included for the base release. A separate LOD12 USA mesh is available for beta testing) Europe Asia Africa Australia and Oceania A few regions are limited to LOD9 (76-m resolution): Antarctica Greenland Russian territories north of 60 N latitude FreeMeshX was compiled using over 400 GB of raw terrain data. The final size of the product is 46 GB, making it one of the largest freeware projects ever for FS. It wouldn't be in everyone's best interests to download all 46 GB at once, so we are releasing the product the product into continental regions for a total of 7 regions total. Each continent contains a number of 10 deg x 10 deg titles, mosaiced from 1 deg x 1 deg tiles into a 2.5 GB file, and then compressed into a BGL file. Defragmentation is highly recommended for mechanical hard drives to ensure smooth and quick loading. Largest improvements are found in regions that contained mainly the default LOD6 and LOD7 meshes. These included remote regions of Africa, South America, Antarctica, and Asia. Europe and Canada sees some improvement, but it's LOD9 mesh is just a one level upgrade to LOD10. Subtle improvements for these previously LOD9 regions will be found mainly in the accuracy of the mesh and level of detail in mountain ranges. DOWNLOADER: http://www.mediafire.com/file/wf4m97ck0v15w2n/fmx_global_2.0_downloader.zip Unzip the above file, and follow the instructions (below or in the README) to begin downloading. NEW INSTALLATION METHOD: FreeMeshX Global 2.0 is an update to introduce the new installation and download method that should alleviate the difficulty of installing FreeMeshX for some users. Included is a command-line based download system that uses the free and open-source wget tool to retrieve each installer and its associated parts. The entire download process is contained with a batch file that will commence automatically by simply double-clicking on it. Note, do not run the installer as administrator -- the downloader will fail. The download process is fully resumable, so those with slower download bandwidth can stop the download, and resume it at a later point. The installer will automatically detect where it left off and resume. The installers for each region are comprised by an .exe file and several .bin files if necessary. All of these files for each region must be downloaded completely into one folder before the installer .exe can be run. A downloader batch file is included for each region, and an all-in-one batch file is included for those who want to download the entire set in one go. A raw list of download links is also available who prefer to download the files through their own methods. Interior view of the extracted download folder: Example of the download tool working: A list of MD5SUMs is also included for those who want to directly verify the integrity of any or all files. A map is also included to illustrate how the world is divided up into regions. FreeMeshX Global 2.0 is cumulative. It includes all patches to each region, and an updated "FreeMeshX - Patches" folder where miscellaneous fixes belong. There is no need to download the old 7-ZIP parts from 1.0 - 1.07. They are fully incorporated into version 2.0. INSTALLATION: These installers will install each FreeMeshX Global region into a directory of your choosing. We highly recommend installing FreeMeshX Global OUTSIDE of your C:\Program Files directory. PLEASE REMEMBER TO ADD THIS FOLDER TO YOUR SIMULATOR'S SCENERY LIBRARY. This installer will not automatically add a Scenery Library entry (we don't want to accidentally corrupt your scenery.cfg). There are many tutorials online on how to add a Scenery Library entry for your simulator. We try to modify your system as little as possible. Therefore, no registries and no uninstaller are created. To uninstall FreeMeshX Global, simply delete the installed folder. We designed the installer this way so that you will have the full flexibility to do with FreeMeshX as you please e.g. such as moving it to another drive. ADDITIONAL NOTES: FreeMeshX does not update any vectors in the simulator. Vectors control the elevations of water bodies such as lakes, ponds, and rivers, and the elevations of airports. The mesh cannot alter these. Using FreeMeshX without a 3rd-party package to update the vectors within the simulator will result in the topography of the updated terrain to lie at different elevations while the vectors still remain at their inaccurate elevations. This mismatch will lead to artifcacts such as raised or sunken airports and waterbodies that will break immersion. Therefore, it is HIGHLY CRITICAL that the simulator's vectors are updated as well, such as through FTX Vectors or UTX, or the topography system of the simulator will be INCOMPLETE. We officially recommend the use of FTX Vectors because all of our testing incorporates it, and it uses elevations derived from the SRTM dataset, the same dataset we use for FreeMeshX Global. To conclude, it does not make any sense to use a global mesh without using any updated vectors. Likewise it does not make sense to use updated vectors without using an updated mesh. FreeMeshX is officially supported for FSX, FSX:SE, and all versions of P3D (including 64-bit P3D). FreeMeshX should be placed above the default terrain entries in the Scenery Library, and below any airports or FTX Regions or landclasses. Updated torrents should be released in the upcoming week (as of 07/29/2017). FreeMeshX USA: FreeMeshX USA entered open beta. See our announcement for details.     Following the release of P3D v4 and the new Dynamic Lighting, I explored various areas of the sim that uses the new feature. One of the things that were not updated from all other versions of the ESP sim is the way aircraft are lit when there are thunderstorm around. With the new Dynamic Lighting, the old effect looks atrociously awful. Ath the end of this thread, you can download a replacement effect for that.     Hi All, the biggest change in this version is X-Plane support for almost all Little Navmap features: Scenery Database, moving map, traffic, weather and more. The update is also recommended for FSX/Prepar3D users because of several bugfixes and other small improvements like the new configurable update notification which will show a dialog if a new release is available.     ORbx posted this on their forums: During the open beta, ObjectFlow 2 will be distributed via Fastlane. Fastlane allows you to opt-in to receive potentially unstable updates before they are released to everyone. Once you have opted-in to Fastlane, you will receive a beta update to FTX Central that includes ObjectFlow 2. This update will also allow you to view your airports in FTX Central for Prepar3D v4. Things to note: ObjectFlow 2 is an open BETA. This means it may cause instabilities in your simulator (crashes, display anomalies, etc). You do not need to download any additional programs to access Fastlane. Just opt-in from the Fastlane page on the website. Any open beta updates will be delivered via FTX Central v3. FTX Central updates will be more frequent, so you'll get new features faster. However, you may also experience more bugs. ObjectFlow 2 is only used in Prepar3D v4. FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv1-3 will continue to use ObjectFlow 1. If you find an issue with ObjectFlow 2, please post it in the ObjectFlow 2 Open Beta forum. Additionally, please use this issue template as it will help speed up the troubleshooting process. How to opt-in to Fastlane and receive the open beta: Log in to your OrbxDirect account. Go to the Fastlane page: https://orbxdirect.com/account/fastlane Click "opt-in to Fastlane" Start FTX Central. You will be prompted to update to FTX Central version 3.2.2. You should now see all of your airports for Prepar3D v4 in FTX Central. When starting the simulator, click "yes" when it asks if you want to run ObjectFlow 2. How to opt-out of Fastlane and restore to the latest stable version: Log in to your OrbxDirect account. Go to the Fastlane page: https://orbxdirect.com/account/fastlane Click "opt-out of Fastlane" Delete the %localappdata%\Orbx\FTXCentral directory. Re-install FTX Central from https://orbxdirect.com/ftxcentral You are now running the latest stable version of FTX Central.     Luckily for us the fantastic RealAir Lancair Legacy and Turbine Duke V2 works out of the box in P3D V4! We're now going to look at a three options when installing the planes into V4. Installing options 1. Use the installer and install directly into the P3D V4 folder. Except for a couple of warnings the first time you install a RealAir plane, this works just fine. But, in V4 all add-ons are expected to be installed outside the main P3D folder. So the next option will install these planes as an Add-on, where the plane is installed somewhere else on your disk. 2. Installing as an add-on using the command line If you want to keep things tidy, install the plane into a folder of your choosing, but not the P3D V4 folder. Then you will need to create an add-on.xml file in the root folder where you installed the plane. I'm using the Duke as an example below. Add the following to the add-on.xml you just created; <SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on"> <AddOn.Name>RealAir Turbine Duke</AddOn.Name> <AddOn.Description>RealAir Turbine Duke</AddOn.Description> <AddOn.Component> <Category>SimObjects</Category> <Path>SimObjects\Airplanes</Path> </AddOn.Component> <AddOn.Component> <Category>Effects</Category> <Path>Effects</Path> <Type>GLOBAL</Type> </AddOn.Component> </SimBase.Document> Save the file. Make sure the file is located in the root folder where you installed the plane; The next step is to make P3D V4 aware of the plane you just installed. You will be doing this by using the preferred method mentioned in the SDK, by using the command line; s:\Prepar3Dv4\Prepar3D.exe "-Configure: Category=Add-on Package, Operation=Add, Title=RealAir Turbine Duke, Path=s:\planes\Turbine Duke V2 P3D3" In the line above, replace the location of Prepar3D.exe and the path to the install folder of the plane. Optional create a add.bat file in the same location as the add-on.xml where you add the line above. After the command line has executed, the plane is available to use in the simulator. Note: The command line added an entry in c:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\add-ons.cfg 3. Adding an add-on.xml to <user>\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons Thanks to FlyBye for pointing out an even simpler way to do this. Create a new folder under your 'C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\ and call it RealAir Turbine Duke; Then you will need to create an add-on.xml file in the RealAir Turbine Duke folder you just created; <SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on"> <AddOn.Name>RealAir Turbine Duke</AddOn.Name> <AddOn.Description>RealAir Turbine Duke</AddOn.Description> <AddOn.Component> <Category>SimObjects</Category> <Path>s:\Planes\Turbine Duke V2 P3D3\SimObjects\Airplanes</Path> </AddOn.Component> <AddOn.Component> <Category>Effects</Category> <Path>s:\Planes\Turbine Duke V2 P3D3\Effects</Path> <Type>GLOBAL</Type> </AddOn.Component> </SimBase.Document> Make sure the two path elements points to the location where you have installed the plane. Start Prepar3D You will get a question if you want to enable the plane when the sim is starting up. Click Yes. Back in P3D V4, when you have loaded a flight, select Options->Add-ons in the menu. You will then see the following dialog; There you got it! All nice and tidy. And no cluttering of the P3D V4 folder! If using option 3, the Directory will show you the add-on folder in your Documents folder. Good luck.

    One year, too long ago, when the show used to be held at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham UK, I had about 12 flightsimmers meet up at my previous house with 6 sleeping over the evening before. Looking back on it, maybe I should have warned my wife. She kindly moved out with the children for the weekend, but I'm not sure she has quite forgiven me yet ;-) It was enormous fun, with the ATP crowd in the kitchen, the MSFS lot in the living room and add-hock 'secret' developer chats to be overheard. Exciting stuff! Funnily enough, when I mentioned to her I'd bought my ticket for this years show, she said (jokingly) "How many's stopping over this year?" I replied that I'd been away from the flightsim scene for so long, I didn't know anyone anymore. I'm looking forward to meeting you all at the show and making new friends.
