Two Boeing 747`s -- Both of them departed at Liege within two hours with the same destination - New York JFK. The first Boeing 747 of CAL was fully loaded and the second Boeing 747 of Kalitta Air was empty and just loaded with fuel. In my opinion it was a pretty fast takeoff for a long haul flight. It just rotatet after the touchdown zone of runway 24. The Kalitta B747 operated a charter flight to Liege and after that it had to be ferried back home to the USA.

The Boeing 747 is one of my favorite airplanes and Liege is a perfect airport if you are interested in B747`s. The third Boeing 747 in this video is operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic in special "Magma" colours. I tried to catch if for a year and four weeks ago I finally filmed it after arriving from Hahn.

All clips which are included in this video were filmed on a single day. That` s why Liege is the place to be for a "cargospotter" like me.

I hope you liked my newst Boeing 747 compilation video, new videos every tuesday and friday.SOURCE

Dozens of aircraft fly over Buckingham Palace as the Royal Air Force celebrates 100 years of its proud history The Queen and other members of the Royal Family saw the display - which included the new F-35 fighter and Spitfires - from the palace balcony.
Earlier they marked the centenary at a special service in Westminster Abbey.
The service began what the head of the RAF said would be a "tremendous" day of events to mark its 100 years.
Three F-35 Lightning stealth fighters were involved in the flypast and 22 Typhoons spelt out 100 as they flew over the palace.Nine helicopters led the armada, while the Red Arrows brought up the rear.
The aircraft assembled in holding patterns off the coast of East Anglia before merging near Ipswich and flying down the A12 corridor to London
The flypast has been organised by Wing Commander Kevin Gatland, chief of staff of the Tornado bomber force at RAF Marham in Norfolk.

The meticulously planned show will feature 17 different types of aircraft, including C-130 Hercules Airbus A400M and C-17 Globemaster III transport planes, Puma and Chinook military helicopters, and Hawk and Typhoon fast jets.

Skiathos Airport or as we call it the "european St. Martin" is one of the craziest airports in europe and it` s always amazing to watch the airplanes land on this small airstrip. Arriving planes have to fly over a small street at the end of the runway and the biggest airplane which is allowed to land at Skiathos is a Boeing 757. The runway only has a length of 1800 meters.

This is our first Skiathos video from 2018 and it was also the first time we saw a Boeing 757 performing a go around at the small island in greece. As you can see the approach was just a ittle too high and after the missed approach they succesfully landed at Skiathos.

Skiathos is one of the most beautiful places if it comes to planespotting in europe. Although you won` t be able to see Airbus A340` s A330` s and other heavies like in St. Martin it` s still an amazing place to be close to the aviation action and watch the planes fly over a beach.

Thanks for watching, new videos every tuesday and friday.SOURCE

Just a teaser video of the magnificent scenery around the upcoming Big Bear Airport, the airport is the star but it's definitely worth exploring the area as well.
*Note:  I've reduced the 20 minute flight by 50% by speeding up the video in places, it's a bit annoying but less tedious to watch I believe.

  11. David White liked a post in a topic by Ivana Fly in Welcome to Big Bear!
    Good morning!
Turbulent Designs is incredibly excited to announce FTX Big Bear City Airport for FTX Southern California.
Big Bear airport is one of our favourite and most popular airport projects. This all-new version for Orbx has been a joy to re-visit.
Turbulent’s Big Bear airport has been completely re-worked to provide an even better experience with all new, 2017 imagery plus the addition of Orbx’s flow technologies. We’ve also added a bunch of new custom buildings and objects.
The primary airport buildings, groundpoly and surrounds were built by the legendary Russ White and his texturing skills really shine here! Combined with new static aircraft, PeopleFlow and CreatureFlow, the airport is an exciting place to visit!
Big Bear City Airport is situated at the eastern end of Big Bear Lake. At an altitude of 6752ft (2058m), surrounded by hills on both sides and in a mountainous area of over 11,000 feet, Big Bear provides a challenge to any pilot. It has a 6750ft runway and is frequented by small GA aircraft, private jets and military/emergency service aircraft.
FTX Big Bear City Airport includes a massive 1405km2 coverage area from the desert foothills in the east stretching all the way to Lake Arrowhead in the west and including huge mountains and deep valleys in between. As a bonus, the coverage area seamlessly links up with Jarrad’s phenomenal Palm Springs airport which is just 30NM southeast (not to mention 6500ft lower!).
Included in the package is Lake Arrowhead airport, a private airstrip and associated homestead, located just north of Lake Arrowhead itself. Here you’ll find a 3170ft, gravel airstrip carved into the landscape. The airport is currently closed in the real world, but we’ve reopened it here for your enjoyment!
The imagery for the whole coverage area is entirely new and now reflects the current drought conditions of Big Bear lake and surrounding areas. The huge expanses of newly exposed shoreline, while not great for boat-owners, make for a strangely beautiful departure or approach to the airport itself. We’ve also added hundreds of jetties, docks and boats on the lake to really bring the area to life.
Although designed from the ground up with FTX Southern California in mind, Big Bear will blend quite happily with the all the FTX Global range.
    ·         Incredibly detailed high-resolution rendition of the airport by Russ White
    ·         Huge 1405km2 coverage area
    ·         Ground textures at 60cm/1m
    ·         Custom 3D grass and trees
    ·         Bonus Lake Arrowhead airport
    ·         Bonus Bear Valley Hospital and helipad
    ·         Seamless connection with FTX Palm Springs
    ·         All new and up to date 2017 imagery
    ·         Custom POIs
    ·         Hundreds of lake objects
    ·         Detailed static aircraft
    ·         Animated PeopleFlow2 and CreatureFlow technology
    ·         Dynamic airport lighting (P3Dv4 only)

We are delighted to welcome back to ORBX the Mountain Maestro himself, Frank Dainese, who produced the much-acclaimed Monument Valley, Devils Tower and Yosemite National Park sceneries for FSX and P3D. In collaboration with development partner Fabio Bellini, Frank brings a completely re-done Monument Valley experience for XP11, adding entirely new tech and many new features not previously seen
One of the most iconic landmarks of the American West, Monument Valley is a natural wonder situated along the Arizona/Utah border, in close proximity to the Grand Canyon, and just a short flight away from other well-known destinations such as Las Vegas, Phoenix, Sedona, Telluride and Flagstaff. Known as the backdrop to many well-loved films from the Golden Era of Hollywood, the park is situated within the Navajo Nation and is visited by tens of thousands of tourists each year.

The scenery features 21 3D models of the main peaks, with the data being derived from digital elevation model (DEM) and then reworked and finished off with 4K textures! The mesh for the scenery has been recompiled as well as with the terrain being rebuilt with texture polygons and does not rely on any orthoimagery.
This scenery is a must have for VFR flyers as well as those that dabble in a bit with the Aerolite.
With Monument Valley Airport (UT25) which is included, 4 helipads have been added at Monument Valley Airport, the View Hotel, Oljato and John Ford Point.

Stay tuned for more screenshots over the week!

Landing at Vagar Airport can be quite challenging as the airport is surrounded by tough terrain and is often struck by high winds and low visibility. Watch from the cockpit of the Airbus A319 as the pilots perform a "short-field landing".

Vagar (FAE) is the only airport on the Faroe Islands and is becoming increasingly busier these years.

    MY WEBSITE: https://goo.gl/KGTSWK
    NEW FACEBOOK PAGE: https://goo.gl/heUKGb

Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel and to a question many of you have been asking over the past few months. "Joe, which airline do you work for now?"
Finally, I can make an official statement on that, we´ll talk a bit about my previous airline and I´ll give you guys some advice on how to start your airline career!
I´m sure many of you know that my former employer was Germanys second largest airline, Airberlin. I must admit I had the time of my life with Airberlin, who which I flew for the past eight years. Transitioning from the Beech King Air 200 to the Airbus A320 was a huge step, but I fell in love with the A320 from day one. I used to nickname it the "Babybus" compared to it´s larger mother the Airbus A300. But most importantly Airberlin gave me the wings I needed to start my career in the airline industry. So over the course of time , I was based for one year in Stuttgart, three years in Düsseldorf, which is an awesome city, if you have a bachelor pad like I had in the city centre. And after fours years being on the waiting list for my home base Munich, I got a call on my 30th birthday by my friend Patricia, who worked at human resources, saying:"Hey Joe, a colleague of yours cancelled his transfer to Munich, your next on the list, now is the chance to get transferred otherwise you have to wait for another three to four years." Can you imagine the birthday celebration that weekend with my boys in Munich, it was legen.... wait for .... dary!
Another four years of Airbus flying out of my hometown, and it just couldn´t get any better than that. 20 minutes to work by car, nicest colleagues, which many of them just came from the Boeing 737. And lots of them kept saying, "Joe if you haven´t flown a Boeing in your life, you haven´t really flown a plane so far". I kept replying, "I would love to fly the 747 one day, that´s always been my dream". And having said that, a few months later there was an announcement on our Intranet stating, "Fly the 747 for two years via a temporary employment contract". You didn´t have to ask me twice, I immediately applied. I flew up to Berlin to have the interview and got to meet three very interesting people. The chief pilot, a psychologist, and a lady who was head of recruitment.
The interview lasted roughly an hour, in which they were very straight forward about their pros and cons of their airline and so was I about my strengths and weaknesses. Don´t expect that from every airline, a lot of them just shine with their advantages but never talk freely about their disadvantages. Nevertheless, after a 20-minutes discussion, the lady from recruitment called me back in and with a smile on their face congratulated me that I could start asap. I was hooked and immediately wanted to get started. Sadly a few weeks later Airberlin called me up and said, Joe we´re sorry but we´re gonna have to stop the project, as we are going to face a shortage in pilots very soon and need every pilot to stay with us. So my dream of flying the 747 got ripped away from me.

But see more what happen a few years later :)

Thank you very much your time, wishing you all the best, and don´t forget "A good pilot is always learning"!

    See you next week
    Your "Captain" Joe

I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.SOURCE

  22. FlyingJock liked a post in a topic by Ivana Fly in Broome Intl: Our First Australian Destination for XP11!
    G'day everyone,
I am delighted to lift the lid on our very first Australian destination for XP11 - Broome International Airport! A project I originally developed for FSX a few years ago, Broome has been meticulously brought to X-Plane with the expertise of Mac Ottlinger and Chris Vezirgiannis.
For those not familiar, Broome is a highly-popular tourist destination situated in the rugged Kimberley region of North-Western Australia. A tropical oasis straddling the red desert sands and crystal blue waters of the world-famous Cable Beach, Broome is a melting pot of culture and history. The town has a fascinating and diverse history, much of it centred around the pearling industry that was set up in the 1880s - indeed one of the many visual icons of the town is the sight of a pearling lugger sailing past Cable Beach at sunset. The town also came to prominence during World War II, when the airport (home to USAAF B-17 and B-24 bombers) and town centre were bombed by the Japanese. The most well-known casualties of this raid were a fleet of Dutch flying boats anchored at Roebuck Bay - these aircraft were on their way from the Dutch East Indies to Perth at the time.
The airport itself is quite iconic due to its proximity to the town centre - the main runway at YBRM essentially cuts the town in half. From an eastern approach, short (short) finals take you low over the middle of downtown - when visiting the local outdoor cinema (Sun Cinemas - incidentally the oldest outdoor cinema in the world), it is common to be interrupted by a 737 flying over only dozens of feet overhead! When approaching from the west, short finals take you over the impeccably white sand of Cable Beach, passing just to the south of the Cable Beach Resort.
Broome Airport is the major regional hub for the Kimberley and north-east Pilbara regions - expect to see a busy mix of airline traffic (Qantas, Virgin Australia, Skippers, AirNorth & Silkair), domestic and international corporate jets, and of course regional GA and heli ops. The airport is a daily host to a wide variety of aircraft, including B738, A320, F100, B717, E170 and DHC8 airliners, S-92 and AS332 helicopters, G550s and even the occasional Il-76. Over on the general aviation ramp, expect to see a flurry of aircraft activity; many small charter companies operating flights to rural and remote communities, in combination with local scenic helicopter flights, and a busy Royal Flying Doctor Service ramp. In recent times, Broome Airport has seen the re-introduction of international flights to Singapore, development of a large heliport to cater for the booming offshore mining industry, and a new control tower.
On a personal note, this airport project has always been a bit of a favourite of mine - I spent a fair amount of time here as a kid, and to me it encapsulates the very essence of a unique northern Australian location. I have been very excited to see the development of this project progress; Mac and Chris have done a great job bringing our first "local" destination to life in X-Plane. An enormous amount of passion went into both the original development and the porting to XP, I really hope you all enjoy flying around the area as much as we all did creating it.  A perfect fit for any style of simming, Broome really is the best way to start your Australian XP11 collection!
