Hello everyone,   We are taking you all back down under with the the third airport by Finni Hansen, NZGS Gisbourne Airport in New Zealand. If you're a fan of Finni's previous works (ENNO Notodden and ENHF Hammerfest), you're going to love his recreation of this regional airport. NZGS is situated on the outskirts of Gisborne, on the East Coast of the North Island in New Zealand and is one of the few airports in the world that has a railway line, the Palmerston North-Gisborne Line, crossing the main runway. Additionally there a heliport located north of the airport on top of a hospital.     NZGS is the first Orbx airport to utilize Allen Kriesman’s CityScene tech, using Xpressim software. Included is the entire city of Gisborne, accurately depicted . Coupled with over 100.000 autogen trees and additional buildings outside the city, this package includes everything you would see on a trip into or out of Gisborne Airport. Make sure to be ready on the runway at 13:00 to watch the WA165 steam train make its way across the runway carrying passengers as it has been doing for over 100 years!    Gisbourne Airport airport is situated just next to the ocean in Poverty Bay, with spectacular views of the Young Nick’s Head mountain as you depart over open waters. It consists of a single terminal and gate, an asphalt runway 1310 meters long and several grass runways. Air New Zealand and Sunair both operate out of NZGS, however the airport is used for a combination of medical flights, SAR, and GA-Traffic - it gets quite busy as you can imagine!   Features:   Accurate representation of Gisborne airport and cityscape Large coverage area including the airport, Young Nick's Head mountain, and the city of Gisbourne Ground specular mapping Baked ambient occlusion and night lighting Dynamic lighting for P3DV4 Orbx PeopleFlow Animated WA165 Vintage Steam train
    NZGS Gisbourne Airport¬†will be available to purchase from OrbxDirect soon for¬†AUD $32.95¬†(approx. USD $24.35 / ‚ā¨21 / ¬£18.50 )

Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel and to a great video about visual aids for pilots. We¬īll be looking at the PAPI lights, how they work, and especially how to use them whilst you¬īre on approach.

The PAPI is a light array positioned beside the runway. It normally consists of four equi-spaced light units color-coded to provide a visual indication of an aircraft's position relative to the designated glideslope for the runway. An abbreviated system consisting of two light units can be used for some categories of aircraft operations. The international standard for PAPI is published by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in Aerodromes, Annex 14 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, Volume 1, Chapter 5. National regulations generally adopt the standards and recommended practices published by ICAO. An earlier glideslope indicator system, the visual approach slope indicator (VASI) is now obsolete and was deleted from Annex 14 in 1995. The VASI only provided guidance down to heights of 60 metres (200 ft) whereas PAPI provides guidance down to flare initiation (typically 15 metres, or 50 ft).

The PAPI is usually located on the left-hand side of the runway at right angles to the runway center line. The units are spaced 9 meters apart with the nearest unit 15 meters from the runway edge. A PAPI can, if required, be located on the right-hand side of the runway. At some locations PAPIs are installed on both sides of the runway but this level of provision is beyond the requirements of ICAO. The light characteristics of all light units are identical. In good visibility conditions the guidance information can be used at ranges up to 5 miles (8.0 km) by day and night. At night the light bars can be seen at ranges of at least 20 miles (32 km).

Each light unit consists of one or more light sources, red filters and lenses. Each light unit emits a high-intensity beam. The lower segment of the beam is red, and the upper part is white. The transition between the two colours must take place over an angle not greater than three minutes of arc. This characteristic makes the color change very conspicuous, a key feature of the PAPI signal. To form the PAPI guidance signal, the color transition boundaries of the four units are fixed at different angles. The lowest angle is used for the unit furthest from the runway, the highest for the unit nearest to the runway. The designated glideslope is midway between the second and third light unit settings. Depending on the position of the aircraft relative to the specified angle of approach, the lights will appear either red or white to the pilot. The pilot will have reached the normal glidepath (usually 3 degrees) when there is an equal number of red and white lights. If an aircraft is beneath the glidepath, red lights will outnumber white; if an aircraft is above the glidepath, more white lights are visible.

PAPI systems are readily available from airfield lighting manufacturers worldwide. PAPI is normally operated by air traffic control (ATC). If ATC services are not normally provided at an aerodrome, PAPI along with other airport lights may be activated by the pilot by keying the aircraft microphone with the aircraft's communication radio tuned to the CTAF or dedicated pilot controlled lighting (PCL) frequency.

Thank you very much for your time! I hope you enjoy this basic introduction video about the PAPI!
    Wishing you all the best!

Last sunday I filmed 7 big planes at Cologne. The main runway was closed due to construction works and as a result the heavies were forced to land on the shorter runway (2450m). It` s always impressive to watch a Boeing 747 land on such a short runway and this resulted in a pretty low approach. I filmed with three cameras, including a go pro.

Check out the cyclist who didn` t care about the loud MD-11 above his head. I have never seen a person ignorning a plane in such a passionate way. Dude, it` s an MD11, look up :D.

I also included two Airbus A300 freighters. The first one by MNG operated the weekly flight from Istanbul for UPS. It was TC-MCD in new MNG colors by the way. The second Airbus A300 was operated by Egypt Air Cargo, SU-GAS, which is a frequent visitor at CGN aswell. I waited for the departure to catch the incredible sound of the Airbus A300 engines.

Thanks for watching, new videos every tuesday and friday.SOURCE

  8. caderly_one liked a post in a topic by Ivana Fly in Turbulent Design's KGPI & KMBS coming soon to OrbxDirect!
    Hello everyone,

Turbulent Designs have really been on a roll lately - now we have two airports coming to OrbxDirect from the British scenery veterans: KGPI Glacier Park International Airport exclusively for P3Dv4 and MBS International Airport for FSX and all versions of P3D, nearly the entirety of which has been custom modelled!

    MBS International Airport

MBS International Airport for FSX and P3D is the most feature rich and detailed Turbulent airport to date. The airport serves the cities of Midland, Bay City and Saginaw in Freeland County, Michigan. It’s situated 100nm north west of Detroit and approximately 200nm from both Toronto and Chicago.

MBS is a great airport for a balance between commercial flying and general aviation. It’s 8000ft primary runway serves a selection of commercial aircraft in the real world, which operate out of the new passenger terminal. On the other side of the 6000ft secondary runway you can find a range of service hangers next to the general aviation and corporate jet apron. General aviation pilots can also use an isolated WWII runway, which provides a unique challenge.

The passenger terminal features a fully modelled interior, accurate to real world blueprints, allowing you to walk through and explore as a passenger. As a pilot parked at one of it’s 6 gates you can look through the terminal windows and see every detail inside the building. The jetways are fully integrated with SODE, which allows command of the docking and undocking procedure. Over on the corporate jet apron is another highly detailed interior of one of the main hangers. Pilots can choose to start or end their flight from inside this hanger.

A range of brand new HD service vehicles, cars and trucks have been placed around this airport. Each of these new vehicles has been meticulously developed, using on site photographs as reference. Each new vehicle has a cab interior and transparent glass, adding a new level of depth and immersion.

Runways, taxiways and apron surfaces are represented with high definition textures based on real world surface photography, providing an unrivalled level of visual realism while taxiing around the airport. Dense population of RealFlora in use at MBS provides a realistic variety of grasses and ground plants across the airport, particularly delivering a very convincing feel of overgrowth at the abandoned section of the WWII runway.

MBS airport sits in a rural expanse of fertile land, surrounded by farms and small holdings, this scenery perfectly recreates these visually recognizable landmarks in immense detail. Individually modelled farms with grain silos, water towers, wind generators and barns surround the airport, providing a huge amount of realism on approach and departure.

    Key Features:

Accurate representation of MBS International Airport modelled in insane detail Bonus GA disused World War II runway for challenging approaches Fully modelled passenger terminal, accurate to real world blue prints Modelled hangar interior Custom HD service vehicles, cars and trucks Baked ambient lighting Stunning custom ‚ÄúReal Flora‚ÄĚ vegetation for trees, grass and shrubs Unrivalled HD ground poly throughout the airport Airport and coverage area fully custom modelled to replace autogen Individually modelled farms, barns, wind generators, silos and water towers Orbx Flow technology Optional Dynamic Lighting for P3D v4 only ¬†
MBS International Airport will be available to purchase from OrbxDirect soon for¬†AUD $32.95¬†(approx. USD $24.35 / ‚ā¨21 / ¬£18.50 )

  13. OMGEDSON liked a post in a topic by Ivana Fly in Aerosoft A330 Interior Details & More
Time to give this one it's own topic (I'll make one for the A320/A321 as well but for some reason that won't load at this moment).

As explained while the graphical work on the A330 is progressing nicely we want to have the A320/A321 out first and have the A318/A319 on the same system status (SP1) as well. So we are not thinking about dates. But so many of the systems have been done already and so many others are the same as in the smaller busses we do not see major issues at this moment. It's just a lot of work, not a lot of unexpected surprises.

As you can see from the images, the modeling standard is VERY high, on the same level as the A318/A319 Virtual Cockpit.  You can see what the advantage of doing an aircraft directly for 64 bits is, If we would work with a 32 bit model we would never dream of this level of detail and in P3d V4.3, compiled with the very latest compilers the framerates are simply fine. It's a new dawn for the simulator if you start fresh! The images that follow are renders from the 3d tools. in the sim that rendering engine smooth things out a bit and generally makes it look better. Keep that in mind.

The prices have not been fully set but should be in the same ballpark as the A318/A319/A320/A321 and there will be a modest discount for people who own any of the current busses because we reuse some parts from the current project (and you know we never ask you to pay more then one time for a file).

Two Boeing 747`s -- Both of them departed at Liege within two hours with the same destination - New York JFK. The first Boeing 747 of CAL was fully loaded and the second Boeing 747 of Kalitta Air was empty and just loaded with fuel. In my opinion it was a pretty fast takeoff for a long haul flight. It just rotatet after the touchdown zone of runway 24. The Kalitta B747 operated a charter flight to Liege and after that it had to be ferried back home to the USA.

The Boeing 747 is one of my favorite airplanes and Liege is a perfect airport if you are interested in B747`s. The third Boeing 747 in this video is operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic in special "Magma" colours. I tried to catch if for a year and four weeks ago I finally filmed it after arriving from Hahn.

All clips which are included in this video were filmed on a single day. That` s why Liege is the place to be for a "cargospotter" like me.

I hope you liked my newst Boeing 747 compilation video, new videos every tuesday and friday.SOURCE
