  3. PMDG head Robert Randazzo has issued another status update via their new forumaddressing a range of points, including the likelihood of another X-Plane product in the works. The main body of the post is based around updates on their 747 and NG3 (unreleased) products for Prepar3D. Towards the bottom of the post, Randazzo mentions the DC-6, for both Prepar3D and X-Plane. He says this of the XP11 version of the aircraft: "...and also about updating the DC-6 to X-Plane 11 a bit later this year." 4. Aircraft development group FlightFactor have been making headlines a lot recently. An uncharacteristic streak of activity on the public relations front have lead to numerous updates to their A320 simulation, and now a sneak peek at retrofitted Large Display System (LDS) panels for their 757 aircraft. The LDS outfit, currently in use with some of UPS' fleet of 757 and 767 planes, replaces the aging CRT displays present on original aircraft. A UPS outfitted 757, sporting similar (though not exactly the same) panels to those posted today. In a post on the X-Plane.org Forum back in October last year, user Palmi asks about the potential for a cockpit upgrade coming to the 757 in future - to which FF developer den_rain claimed the team had plans for. The thread lay dormant over the New Years break and three months subsequently, until den_rain posted again, saying: It's a pretty big post.. see the link for more: SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK : RUMOUR: FlightFactor 757 Retrofit Cockpit Update Coming Soon | Threshold WWW.THRESHOLDX.NET A FlightFactor developer has shared a sneak peek of retrofitted Large Display System panels on the 757, after claiming LDS panels will be in a later update to the plane. | Threshold: Question the Answers.
  5. X-Plane users of the international multiplayer network VATSIM have long yearned for a pilot client worthy of competing with it's ESP-platform counterpart vPilot - the only current option being the aging XSquawkBox plugin, which was last updated in August 2017. Whilst there is a version 2 in the works, it is unknown when it will be completed. The Swift project is billed as a replacement to the current generation of pilot clients, and when released will be compatible with both major simulator platforms, Prepar3D and X-Plane. 6. Aircraft developers Military Visualizations have today put out a peculiar request for funds to bring their in-development ATR-72 to Laminar's sim. This is the latest in a string of backwards-and-forwards behavior from MilViz as they weigh up the cost involved in porting the turboprop airliner to X-Plane. In a post on Facebook, the developer simply says; Included is a link to this Kickstarter campaign in which they request $27,000 Canadian dollars to ensure that the ATR will be developed for XP. 15. After his highly successful release of Munich Airport, MisterX6 has decided to go worldwide with his next payware product, SFD Global. The package will overhaul X-Plane’s current non-airport scenery by completely changing the terrain textures, reconstructing certain autogen regions, and adding HD forest and vegetation textures. Terrain Textures SFD Global will replace X-Plane’s default terrain textures with new handmade alternatives. The new textures have been crafted using elements from high resolution orthoimagery. Extreme attention to detail and the seamless blending of elements has these previews looking great so far. Autogen Regions The package will also include multiple sets of regional autogen. These sets will consist of new detailed buildings with PBR materials and handcrafted autogen tiles with details like trees, cars, and furniture. The first three regions featured are the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Middle East. More regions are still to come and will be announced at a later date. American autogen will not be touched since Laminar's default autogen simulates it well. Landmarks To complete the product, SFD has also included some famous landmarks located all over the world in SFD Global. Currently, the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy have both been completed but more will come with time.
