  4. While the official designation of this rifle was simply U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, M1, it became much better known as the M1 Garand, taking the name of its designer, John Garand. The M1 was the standard service rifle used by the United States during World War II, and this particular example dates back to the WWII era. This Garand, along with the period paratrooper supplies and parachute, is part of a D-Day exhibit opening in the EAA Aviation Museum on June 6, 2019, 75 years to the day after the event itself. Thousands of these rifles were carried by brave soldiers parachuting out of C-47s and arriving on the beachhead from ships in a crucial step toward Allied victory in the war.SOURCE

  8. We all know the iconic jetblast videos from SXM and Skiathos but have you ever seen a jetblast video of an airplane which initiated a go around right above the head of the camera man? That` what happened to me in Brize Norton in 2012 when the Lockheed Tristar was still active and performed 25 training approaches at Brize Norton within four hours. What an iconic moment to see my favorite airplane approach 25 times. This video is an aviation compilation of the Dc-10 and L1011. I am still sad to see the Triholes slowly disappear from the skies. The video clip of the Tristar go around above my head should be my personal fav. video of all time. Pretty sure I won` t see a Tristar above my head any time soon although there are rumors about a reactivation of the former british Tristars.   10. 5 rare and big planes you don` t see everyday. All of them were filmed within four hours at Maastricht Airport in the netherlands last week. The highlights were obviously the beautiful silver Boeing 747 of Sky Gates and the Airbus A310 of Royal Jordanian Cargo which is the sole Airbus A310 left in their fleet. At Maastricht you only have approximately 10 airplane movements per day but usually the planes which show up are quite rare and interesting.   11. Takeoff from Deauville, France, to Lappeenranta, Finland, with six racing horses aboard! The Antonov An-12 (NATO reporting name: Cub) is a four-engined turboprop transport aircraft designed in the Soviet Union. It is the military version of the Antonov An-10 and was made in many variants. The first prototype flew in December 1957. Over 900 had been built, in both military and civilian versions, before production finally ended in 1973. The An-12BP entered Soviet military service in 1959. In terms of configuration, size and capability, the aircraft is similar to the United States-built Lockheed C-130 Hercules. Military Soviet and former-Soviet examples have a defensive tail gun turret. In the 1960s China purchased several An-12 aircraft from the Soviet Union, along with a license to assemble the aircraft locally. However, due to the Sino-Soviet split, the Soviet Union withdrew its technical assistance. It was not until 1974 that the first Chinese-assembled An-12 had its maiden flight. The Xi'an Aircraft Company and Xi'an Aircraft Design Institute worked to reverse-engineer the An-12 for local production. In 1981, the Chinese copy version of the An-12, designated Y-8, entered production. Since then the Y-8 has become one of China's most popular military and civilian transport/cargo aircraft, with many variants produced and exported. A Tu-16/H-6 bomber navigator cockpit design was chosen for Y-8 instead of the original An-12 shorter navigator cockpit design, as the H-6 bomber had been in serial production for some time. Although the An-12 is no longer made in Russia or Ukraine, the Y-8 continues to be upgraded and produced in China. The latest Y8-F600 is a joint venture between Shaanxi Aircraft Company, Antonov Aeronautical Scientific-Technical Complex (ASTC), and Pratt & Whitney Canada. The Y8-F600 has a redesigned fuselage, western avionics, PW150B turboprop engines with an R-408 propeller system, and a two-crew glass cockpit. It is unknown whether the Shaanxi Y-8 remains in production, yet many believe it will remain in production for the foreseeable future. The here seen An-12BK has an increased 30-tonne (66,140 lb) payload, improved avionics suite, TG-16M APU and the widened cargo door of the An-12BP characterized the An-12BK, which was built exclusively for the VTA (Komandovaniye voyenno-transportnoy aviatsii), a major component of the Soviet Air Force. Ukraine Air Alliance is an airline based in Kiev, Ukraine. It operates cargo and passenger charters as well as services to Asia, Africa and Europe. Its main bases are Boryspil International Airport (KBP) and Zhulyany International Airport (IEV). The airline was established on 28 February 1992 and started operations in 1993. It registered with the Ukrainian authorities as a joint stock company and was one of the first private air enterprises in Ukraine to obtain international status through registration at ICAO. The length's some people will go to develop an accurate flight model. 😉 Alleged Eagle Dynamics Developer Jailed for Buying F-16 Manuals by CALUM MARTIN on 14TH MAY 2019 DCSNEWS FACEBOOK TWITTER REDDIT An alleged employee of Eagle Dynamics has been arrested for buying F-16 manuals to help with the development of the aircraft within combat flight sim DCS. According to the the Standard-Examiner, developer Oleg Mikhaylovich Tishchenko has been charged with “conspiring against the United States, smuggling and violating the Arms Export Control Act”. The Russian national claimed to be an employee of Eagle Dynamics and had been actively purchasing manuals for USAF fighter jets through eBay. However, as he was a Russian national, the law prevented him from buying the documentation directly due to international restrictions. To combat that, Tishchenko had enlisted the help of people within the US to buy the manuals and then ship them directly to him in Russia. The person who assisted him lived in Texas and agreed to help. In October 2011, the man sent the manuals to Tishchenko. Jokingly, the Texas man said “If I get busted can you send me a hacksaw?”. However, Tishchenko assured him that there would be no issue as the manuals were “obsolete”. It is said that the manuals contained “concise and clear instructions” for operating and maintaining F-16s. According to the report, an investigation was launched by Homeland Security and the US Air Force. Initially, he was charged back in 2016, however, was only arrested when Tishchenko had travelled to Georgia. For those who don’t know, Georgia has an extradition agreement with the United States. Agents on the investigation learned that between January 2012 and September 2015, Tishchenko then auctioned off the F-16 manuals to buyers across the world including Cyprus, Japan, Australia, Germany, Taiwan and the Netherlands. In 2016, an undercover agent then posed as a buyer and contacted Tishchenko. During these chats, it became clear that Tishchenko was still acquiring new manuals. In particular, those related to the A-10, the F-16C, F-35 and F-22. He told the agent “could guarantee that these manuals will not be provided to any third party, and I think even not shown to anyone in our company.” Eagle Dynamics has released a very brief statement on their forums suggesting that “nothing has changed” with their plans. They will issue a formal statement after they have discussed everything with their legal counsel. The full statement is below. Given the seriousness of this situation that Eagle Dynamics got pulled into, we will later issue a formal statement after discussion with legal counsel. Until then, nothing has changed with our future plans, and there is nothing more to say on this matter until we release an official statement. It has not been confirmed whether Oleg Mikhaylovich Tishchenko is or was an employee of Eagle Dynamics. When we contacted Eagle Dynamics for a response, we were told that the official response will be posted later today. The man from Texas was originally charged, but had them dropped last week. Seen here is one of the shortest flights available for an Airbus A319. The Airbus factory is located in Finkenwerder Airport, which has no terminal or passenger flights. Some of the ships in the channel are headed to the factory loaded with airplane parts. Other Airbus factories are located in Toulouse, Seville and the UK. The Dassault Falcon 7X is a large-cabin, 5,950 nmi range business jet manufactured by Dassault Aviation, the 2nd largest of its Dassault Falcon line. Launched at 2001 Paris Air Show, its first flight was on 5 May 2005 and it entered service on 15 June 2007. The Falcon 8X is derived from the 7X with a longer range of 6,450 nmi afforded by engine optimizing, aerodynamic refinements and an increase in fuel capacity.[7] Featuring an S-duct central engine, it and the Falcon 900 are the only two trijets in production. Dassault launched the FNX at the 2001 Paris Air Show, aiming for a 10,500km (5,700nm) range at Mach 0.88 up from the Falcon 900EX 8,300km at Mach 0.84. Its new high-speed wing is 1.86m (6.10ft) longer with 5° higher wing sweep than the 900 wing, while its 20% longer fuselage is keeps the same cabin cross-section but with a new curved windscreen. The trijet has a combined thrust of 18,000lb (80kN) provided by Honeywell FX5s, a new design, or a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306 growth version. Based on Honeywell Primus Epic avionics, its EASy cockpit is developed for the Falcon 2000EX and 900EX and controls are fly-by-wire. Scheduled to fly in 2004, first deliveries were planned for mid-2006. With 41 deposits, it was named 7X in November with first flight slipping from late 2004 to early 2005 and certification planned for mid-2006. With a simplified structure to reduce cost and weight, the optimised high-transonic wing improves by more than 10% the lift-to-drag ratio over the supercritical-section wing of the Falcon 50 shared by previous Falcons. The cabin is 2.4m (8ft) longer than the 900 and have a lower 6,000ft (1,800m) cabin altitude. the 6,100lb-thrust (21.7kN) PW307A was finally selected, among other risk-sharing partners: Honeywell for avionics architecture, auxiliary power unit, air management system; with Parker Hannifin for the power generation system and wheels brakes; and TRW Aeronautical Systems for the hydromechanical flap and airbrake systems. With over 50 firm orders, it completed its first flight on 5 May in 1h 36min from Bordeaux-Merignac, starting a 1,200h flight test programme over 15 month: it climbed to 10,000ft (3,000m) for hydraulic, fuel, air data and landing gear extraction/retraction systems tests, then climbed to 25,000ft for acceleration/deceleration tests and basic autopilot and autothrottle operations. The second Falcon 7X should join in June, and the third with a full interior in September for long-range, endurance tests and interior sound level validation: Dassault aims for a 52dB sound level in the cabin, 4dB lower than other Falcons. Certification slipped to late 2006 and first deliveries to early 2007. It was first presented to the public at the 2005 Paris Air Show. The aircraft has received its type certification from both the Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on 27 April 2007. The first 7X, MSN05, entered service on 15 June 2007. The hundredth was delivered in November 2010. It conducted high altitude airport tests at 14,500 ft in Daocheng in 2014. The Falcon 7X is a three-engined cantilever monoplane with a low-positioned, highly swept wing. It has a horizontal stabiliser at mid-height and a retractable tricycle landing gear, and three rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney PW307A turbofan engines : two on the side of the fuselage and one in a center position, and room for 20 passengers and two crew. It is the first production Falcon jet to offer winglets. It is the first fully fly-by-wire business jet and is equipped with the same avionics suite, the Honeywell Primus Epic "Enhanced Avionics System" (EASy), that was used on the Falcon 900EX and later on the Falcon 2000EX.
