  1. XPRealistic Pro V2 Announced After an extended period of silence from RKApps, the developer behind SimHat and XPRealistic, has announced that the latter will see a complete rewrite. The goal of XPRealistic is to add to the immersion felt while in-sim, with effects like realistic pilot head turning, prop enhancements and more pronounced G-Force effects. RKApps say version 2 will be a standalone plugin, meaning that FlyWithLua will no longer be required to run the utility. In a post on the X-Plane.org Forum, head developer Roy Kro explains what is planned for the new version: v2.0.0 development has started and it is on its initial stages. Yes, this is a major version, the next bullet will explain why. I decided to write XPRealistic Pro from scratch, this time as a stand alone plugin for X-Plane, that means FWL won't be required anymore. The new version is built in a way that will allow XPRealistic to expand into more areas in terms of effects. The above means that I have lots of work to do! Please keep up your patience. In a later comment, Roy goes on to say VR compatibility is very much being considered, though he can't guarantee it's inclusion. You can purchase the existing XPRealistic Pro for $19.99 here. 8. The VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain Flying Lab Project AU build 2.8.01 New Update The VSKYLABS Store Contact The VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain Flying Lab Project AU build 2.8.01 New Update The VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain Flying Lab Project version v2.8.01 was officially RELEASED! *Down below, at the end of this message, there are important notices - don't forget to have a look! New version v2.8.01 has set the foundations for the future update plan to version v3.0. The VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain FLB is now representing a comprehensive C-47/DC-3 simulation, beefed up with exciting new features and systems. Here are v2.8.01 features highlights: The project is 'VR Ready': VR functionality is a part of the project aspects which are constantly under evaluation and development for reaching higher level of immersion as the VR features and possibilities are growing. Highly accurate performance and handling simulation of the DC-3/C-47, along with a full set of traditional/old school radio, navigation and autopilot systems. Workhorse for practicing DC-3/C-47 pilot skills: Experience authentic flight performance and handling practices (takeoff, landing, single engine operations, flight planning, long range flights and old school navigation). It is a perfect platform to recreate and fly historic routes using authentic performance. Unique look and feel: There is nothing to hide - the VSKYLABS DC-3/C-47 is a mixture of a simplified yet very engaging design. Systems - All the relevant systems are being simulated, including a fully featured cockpit, equipped with the C-47 authentic cockpit layout and VFR/IFR instruments. Highly defined engines/propellers systems with an authentic feathering system. Superb two and single engine performance. Here are some of the more unique systems which were added in v2.8.01: Two speed Supercharger blowers - based on the PW-1830-90C engines model, equipped with lo/hi blowers. The high blower configuration is allowing high altitude cruise. Oxygen system - including crew dilution/regulator, pressure indicator and functional flow-indicator ("Blinker"). Do not forget to enable hypoxia in X-Plane's general settings menu. Fire Extinguisher system - including fire indication system. The fire extinguisher control panel is located behind the hinged cover on the cockpit floor, between the pilot/co-pilot's seats. Damage simulation - engines are sensitive to rapid spool-up. Engine abusement will result in severe damage to the engine/engine fire. Stressing the airframe will result also in severe damage, following a visual representation of the damages, including prop-strike visualization and loss of control surfaces both visually and within the flight dynamics model. Interconnected fire, cockpit smoke and ventilation setup (in case of fire, open the windows to ventilate smoke out of the cockpit). Sperry Autopilot - Old school autopilot is configured. Anti-Icing/De-Ice systems, including icing and rain visualization (non-librain). Skis - Animated, incorporated in the flight dynamics model. Aircraft Performance: Aircraft performance and handling qualities were designed and tested in a "Research level" approach and went through a validation process of more than 300 hours (up until now) of flight testing and evaluation by real-world C-47/DC-3 pilot...stretching X-Plane to its limits. Easy to operate by beginners: All relevant systems are simulated but with the focus on getting the “Flying Lab” airborne without the need to go through a long “ground school” (although it is highly recommended to get familiar with the C-47/DC-3 in order to stretch out all of its potential). Still under development with a long-term development plan for the package, which will include continuous work and refinements on the Flight Dynamics Model, systems, and modeling. STMA Autoupdater included. Important notice #1: The VSKYLABS C-47 Skytrain FLP Project is featring the STMA Autoupdater plugin, which means that it is mostly probable that most of the users got the latest update automatically, already. However, the store package was updated with the new project build (v2.8.01). It is highly recommended to download and use the new build, as it is better to keep the gap between the store build and the autoupdater incremental build as low as possible. Improntant notice #2: It is highly recommended to register to the VSKYLABS Store, as you will be able to log into your account, check your purchases and download them for updating or backup purposes whenever you need. Registering to the VSKYLABS Store is straight forward. All you have to do is to register to Sellfy using their main webpage: https://sellfy.com/ (Don't be confused by the 'Open my store' option. It is a free feature for all Sellfy users, and of course you don't have or need to use it). Keep in mind that you have to register with the same email addressed that you've been using to purchase your products in the VSKYLABS Store. Once you are registered to Sellfy, you may log into your account at the VSKYLABS Store. Thank you for flying VSKYLABS! JMH - VSKYLABS SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK :

  12. X-Plane 11 in Vulkan & Metal: First Images From Inside the Simulator By: Alex John April 27, 2019 Laminar Research has announced that the X-Plane 11 world now runs in the Vulkan and Metal environments. This comes after their last update about a month ago, where the team confirmed the main simulator ran up to the main menu, and that Plane Maker and Airfoil maker run well in the Vulkan and Metal APIs. Today's post on their developer blog sees X-Plane 11 visibly running in the Vulkan and Metal environments. These differ from the current rendering engine, OpenGL, by running more efficiently and requiring less resources, thereby theoretically improving performance. Vulkan is designed to run on Windows, whilst Metal will only run on Mac devices. It is important to note that the previews show numerous bugs and problems, some of which are caused intentionally by turning things off, whilst others need to be fixed. Nonetheless, it shows Laminar Research are progressing with the upgrade to the new rendering APIs. The screenshots below show the main menu in various states: Ben Supnik provided a list of things that are currently working: Plugins are bypassed right now. We have not yet written the plugin-OpenGL-interop layer. VR only works when using OpenGL as the driver; we need to write some new VR code to pass Metal and Vulkan frames directly to the OVR and Rift APIs. Screenshots/Movie capture are a work in progress – that’s what I’ve been working on this week. ... And went on to state: "We still have a number of visual bugs, so screenshots are an important feature so we can run our automated test system. The test system takes hundreds of screenshots of the sim in many configurations and compares them to 11.30 to catch bugs introduced by the new Vulkan and Metal back-ends. Clearly I’ll have to fix my color problems first. "One fun aspect of this port: Metal and Vulkan copy Direct3D’s convention where the viewport Y axis points down and not up. This resulted in a whole series of weird “it’s upside-down again” bugs, most of which have been fixed." "The world is drawn correctly but the atmosphere around it is upside down." The goal now is to fix a number of bugs, primarily those "that bring the whole machine down." Supnik also posted a couple of other screenshots of "things that have gone wrong during development": Again, these are some early images of X-Plane running in Vulkan and Metal and are (extremely) unlikely to represent the final result, and performance numbers are expected next week. All of Laminar Research's development and shenanigans are documented through their official blog, which dates back as far as 2005. Find out what the team is doing behind the scenes here. 17. X-Plane: Free TBM 900 v1.1.9 Update From X-Aviation TBM 900 v1.1.9 Free Update! View this email in your browser HotStart TBM 900 v1.1.9 Update! Ready for download now... Hello Stephen, X-Aviation and HotStart are proud to announce the release of the TBM 900 v1.1.9 update. Click here and login! Simply re-download your original purchase. Here's what's changed in version 1.1.9: Improvements / New Features: New ground steering model to put an end to the unstable takeoffs & landings. Implemented GPU rental costs. Added hand-towing option to the sidebar drawer. XP11.30 engine changes during startup to produce a lower startup ITT spike. Added inertial separator transition sounds. Pressing TIMER on the yoke automatically brings up the TMR/REF page. AviTab support integrated into yoke-mounted tablet. Tablet now stows in the door pocket. You can still use the USB ports to summon it, but this will be removed in a future update. Reworked pressurization schedule. The system will now gradually change the cabin pressure target as we are nearing the destination, instead of going to it immediately on takeoff. Pressurization won't fling open the OFV fully on landing, but modulate until equalization has been achieved. Corrected high-altitude performance to be within +-2 knots of POH tablets. Implemented configuration-dependent KIAS errors to match POH values. Implemented sidebar drawer smooth animation. AOA sensor failure separated out from AHRS and now individually settable in "Edit Failures" window. Visual configurations window now includes option to use older custom heatblur effect. Expired databases show in amber on MFD splash screen. Replaced G1000 manual link with one for the TBM850 & TBM900. Bug Fixes: Battery recharge button in maintenance manager was incorrectly disabled. Restructured battery voltage drop with load to give more realistic red battery voltage indications during start. Fixed CAS message pixel alignment issues. GPH indication on EICAS should properly respond when moving into or out of CUTOFF. Electronic checklist was asking for "FUEL SEL" to OFF in a few places, when it should have called for MAN instead. Gear wear was using incorrect sideslip computation. Rudder propwash force correction could end up taking reverse thrust into account, when it shouldn't. Fixed missing pitot & static covers Low-fuel instability wasn't powerful enough. Fixed prop overspeed on reverse with slow forward motion. Workaround for ReShade bug causing hang in its OpenGL hooks DLL. ODB was missing minimum download speed clamp to abort if the download is slow. Don't try removing the odb directory if it didn't exist to avoid a spurious error log message. glutils drawing wasn't properly disabling vertex arrays, leading to potential crash. As always, thanks for purchasing from X-Aviation! We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you more in the future! 19. Aircraft developer Colimata has announced that starting from Mid-May, they will have an early-access to their anticipated Concorde. Whilst the release won’t be deemed final, Colimata has confirmed it is ready to fly and still be an enjoyable experience. The idea of Early Access for the developers is an opportunity to develop it with community feedback in mind. They’re happy with the current progress, but want to ensure that the community also enjoy it. Updates won’t require a full installation (although the final RTM version may do further down the line), but instead can be updated via a small plugin (less than 2Mb). To be clear with the community, Colimata has issued an extensive list of currently available features, what is to come and the progress of each part. It’s all designed to be as transparent as possible. The below list comes from the developer themselves via the X-Plane.org forums. +Sound: In the works these days. Fmod 3D sound. Only the best for our baby! The experiences on our FA-18F and MiG-29 engines help a lot. I’m confident you will really like the result. + Announcements: The Pilot, Copilot and Flight Engineer announcements will be in English at least for version 1.00. I’ve learned to appreciate the French language reading French Concorde manuals. With beautiful sounding words like ‘vitesse de décollage’, ‘le réacteur’, ‘le poussee’ or ‘Limites de centrage’. Unfortunately, I don’t speak French but my Italian and Google were a great help. I’m seriously thinking to do a French language course later to know this better. + System depth: The early access version includes everything one needs to successfully plan flights and do flights. + 99% of all cockpit switches are clickable and at least animated + To my best knowledge all main instruments work + 707 custom lights are implemented, many of them adjustable dynamically by the appropriate switches OR the handy quick access areas. + Navigation includes something for every taste. Form quick and easy to super complex: 1. Radio beacon navigation (using the cockpit instruments) 2. FMS via Graphical user interface 3. Hidden GPS to display/change/follow the route on two big modern GPS displays 4. Interactive on board CIVA (with limited functionality) 5. Compatibility to Phillip’s Pro CIVA (later even more integration of that) + Video tutorials: There will obviously be several video tutorials later on. Plus the jet ships with handy guided onboard ‘3D tours’ feature. Not all of this will be ready from day 1 of the ea-version! + The jet ships with several manuals for different tastes: A.) 10 essentials pdf (for those who want to start as soon as possible) B.) Quick start manual (with a lot more details but still contained size) C.) Full manual with a lot of background info and details (downloadable publicly ~June) == Other important elements of the aircraft include the Autopilot. Whilst the early access version will feature a simplified one, it will be updated in the future. Again, using the small installer plugin. In the future, version 2.0 will include a fully interactive engineering station. With that said, the switches are animated and the onboard virtual flight engineer will follow your commands. No more specific details on price or actual release date was given, but if that changes, we will let you know. You can see the full thread on the X-Plane.org forums. You can also see further previews from the aircraft by seeing our previous article from earlier this month. 20. COLIMATA Concorde: Overview of Features Published By: Alex John April 23, 2019 COLIMATA has listed an overview of the features to be included in the release of Concorde. They include details on the release, sound, announcements, systems depth, navigational methods, video tutorials and manuals. See below for the full message, posted to the forum thread at x-plane.org: "Hi, thank you so much for your encouraging feedback! "The early access version will be available starting ~ mid-May on x-plane.org. "Early access versions have advantages and disadvantages. It’s a good time to start now. The jet is ready for flight and most missing details can be updated via little plugin updates (~2MB file to download). Only when the early access period is finished after a few months, a redownload of the jet might be necessary. "We need your support to move on with the development. We are working on this as hard as we can for more than 2 years. What’s as important as that: We need to know if we are going in the right direction. We in the team are super happy and proud of Concorde FXP of but we want that the customers are too. "+ Sound: In the works these days. Fmod 3D sound. Only the best for our baby;-) The experiences on our FA-18F and MiG-29 engines help a lot. I’m confident you will really like the result. "+ Announcements: The Pilot, Copilot and Flight Engineer announcements will be in English at least for version 1.00. I’ve learned to appreciate the French language reading French Concorde manuals. "The only serious drawback I had to accept is Mr. ‘I do want I want’ Autopilot that will need much more refinement. But this requires you just to download a ~2MB file later, then you have the new Autopilot. The aircraft ships with a simplified autopilot form day 1 though. Don’t worry. "As said several times before, a fully manually interactive Engineering station is something for potential version 2.0. BUT: ALL switches on the engineering station are animated and the base functionality is handled by the virtual flight engineer the follows your commands. For example: Fuel is pumped around in the jet to balance the aircraft. You can select the fuel TRIM status you wish (Concorde has fuel trim and elevon trim) and the virtual flight engineer will execute your order. Currently, I limited the maximum amount of weight difference the forward and rear trim tanks can have in order to make this save. Later there will probably be a setting where you can click ‘Use fully realistic trim weights’. "+ Navigation includes something for every taste. More info later. Best regards Florian COLIMATA" This follows on from last week's new previews of the supersonic airliner. The full thread regarding development and information can be found here. 21. Altijd weer leuk een gratis addon. Helemaal als deze van hoge kwaliteit. Deze keer worden we blij gemaakt met de Yakovlev Yak-18T van PWDT voor X-Plane V11.30+ Deze addon vind u hier en is werkelijk prachtig en zit bovenal vol met effecten zoals ”Realistic Rain Effects” (zie onderstaande foto). The Yakovlev Yak-18T (Russian: Яковлев Як-18T) is a four- or five-seat fully aerobatic utility aircraft. Introduced to train Aeroflot pilots, it has gained some popularity as a sportplane both inside and outside the former USSR. It is powered by a 268-298 kW (360-400 hp) Vedeneyev M14P radial engine, and is designed for stresses of +6.48/-3.24 g. The 18T was designed in the late 60’s, as a civilian aircraft. The aircraft has a nosewheel, is a four- or five-seater, and has a nine-cylinder 360 hp radial. The Yak-18T shares systems with the Yak-50/52 family. These aircraft all have the 265 kW (355 hp) Vedeneyev M14 nine-cylinder radial engine as well as the same underlying compressed-air system for engine starting, brakes, undercarriage and flaps. The propeller, avionics and other parts are also shared. The Yak-18T, like all Russian aircraft used for training, is aerobatic. Compared with other four-seat light aircraft such as the Cessna 172 or the Piper PA-28, the Yak-18T is only a little wider and longer but it is much heavier and is equipped with a considerably more powerful engine. The Yak-18T is perhaps better compared with the Piper Saratoga which has two extra seats but which has a similar maximum weight, together with a retractable undercarriage and a similarly powerful engine. The Yak-18T is, however, distinguished by its strong construction, aerobatic capability and docile yet responsive handling characteristics. The Yak-18T prototype had its first flight in mid-1967 and subsequently the type was placed in series production in Smolensk. The Yak-18T went on to become the standard basic trainer with Aeroflot flight schools, while small numbers also entered service with the Soviet Air Force as liaison and communications aircraft. After approximately 700 were built, many for Aeroflot, production ceased in the late 1980s, to be resumed in 1993. In 2011 it was claimed that the type remained in small-scale production by the Yakolev Design Bureau, although apparently none had been produced in more than a decade. Technoavia has marketed the SM94, its own development of the Yak-18T, featuring curved windshield, larger fuel tanks and choice of avionics package, but production is dependent on orders being placed. About X-Plane model: This is the very first airpcraft model from PWDT for X-Plane 11, highly optimized for best framerates and for easiest usage. Therefore doesn’t use any plugin – except librain – for the special equipments, all systems comes from generic X-Plane datarefs. So some systems not meet with the originals, but hopefully still useable and gives lot of fun for the virtual pilots. Maybe these deficiencies will be fixed in the upcoming patch. Repaint kit will be release as a separate file within a few days. Features: Highly optimized 3D model 4K high detailed PBR textures Realistic flight model Realistic custom FMOD sounds Full 3D virtual cockpit Full 3D instruments Built-in Librain effect Special thanks to: – Mihály Alberti (aka ksgy, author of X-Plane Let L-410) – Adrián Nagy-Hinst (author of Nhadrian/Carenado C-152) – Alan Shafto – Alex Pisarenko – Gergely Debreceni (author of updated Mins Mi-2 for X-Plane 11) – domhenry Thank you guys, this project wouldn’t have been released without your kindly help and ideas!
