  3. From helisimmer: Frank Dainese has shown a few more screenshots of his work with Fabio Bellini in the upcoming 3D Everest Park for X-Plane 11. In the new screenshots of the scenery, which will come out in December, Frank has shown some details of Lukla. These screenshots show a live environment with lots of men, carts, cargo and other paraphernalia around the airport. This is exactly the kind of detail we love to see in these places and I have the feeling this scenery will quickly become one of the helicopter community’s favorites. December’s not arriving fast enough! Beta testers are currently helping us track down bugs and issues in X-Plane 11.30. We have a couple major changes that are in 11.30 to highlight this month, so that everyone's ready for them once we can release a clean, stable version. 11.30 Features Autopilot Updates X-Plane 11.30 includes quite a few autopilot changes. A new S-Tec 55, which is a high-end general aviation dual-axis rate-based digital autopilot, in now installed in the default Cessna 172, and we have a video tutorial on how to use it. ATC Updates A new and more powerful ATC voice system is included in the update as well! Check out this tutorial video on how to interact with X-Plane's ATC system, including the new changes in 11.30. Upcoming Events X-Plane will be in attendance at FSWeekend in Lelystadt on 3 & 4 November. We'll be showcasing X-Plane in VR at a booth, and we'll also have presentations on Friday and Saturday. Featured Add Ons This month brought more great new addon releases, including two new scenery packs and two aircraft. Gateway News Scenery artist Anthony Dyer is on a mission to provide 3D scenery for all of the UK's airports. What motivates you to develop X-Plane scenery? It kind of grew, as hobbies do, from satisfying my desire to fill in a few empty airports to the objective of making sure every airport under National Air Traffic Service (NATS) control in the UK was included in 3D. With every airport, attention to detail was important. I wanted to make airports that were enjoyable to fly to repeatedly. So If I could see a detail on the satellite image, no matter how insignificant, it had to go into the flight simulator. I think hobbies in the United Kingdom are things that we treat very seriously, whether it's gardening, photography or in my case the prior two as well as airport building. For me when I'm traveling on assignment, it's been a very accessible hobby and one I can do almost anywhere in the world whenever I have some spare time. I've also found that when I've showed off my work to friends and colleagues who aren't into flight simulators, a lot of them appreciate it. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that everyone goes flying on commercial airliners these days, so they can all relate to a particular airport.   9. SSG Previews CRJ-700 Exterior Over on their Facebook group, Supercritical Simulations Group (SSG) has announced a major milestone in the development of their CRJ-700NG for X-Plane. The exterior modeling and texturing on their CRJ-700NG has been more or less finalised. Along with the announcement, they’ve provided an abundance of eye-catching screenshots for your viewing pleasure. Previewed, are the seven individual liveries which will be included in the final product along with the CRJ house livery. SSG has told us exclusively that the price will be close to that of their E-Jets add-ons and that they speculate a mid-2019 release. Version two of their Boeing 747-8 is currently taking priority over the CRJ until released. If any more information arises regarding development, we will be sure to keep you updated.   10. Scenery Apprentice Wanted! IBLUEYONDER·FREITAG, 26. OKTOBER 2018 Back in the day, many trades had a tradition of apprenticeship. Those with a desire to learn a skill were paired with experienced craftspeople. The apprentice got to learn a trade first-hand, and the person they were apprenticed to got an eager helper to speed along projects in return. For the right kind of learner, it was an ideal system. These days, apprenticeships are rare, but I got to thinking recently about how much I’d like to have a personally-trained assistant or three who would trade their work for learning the ins and outs of scenery design first-hand. Why not give it a go? How it Would Work Ideally, you (an inexperienced but enthusiastic scenery developer in training) would work with me (someone with over 16 years of working in the sim scenery arena) in a mutually beneficial arrangement. I would provide you with one-on-one training in all aspects of creating scenery, and in return you would work with me on projects where you get to put each skill to use as they’re learned. Eventually, the goal would be for you to become a full-fledged developer, capable of creating top-notch work, unassisted. At that point, you’d graduate to being more of a protégé than a student, and I would provide the necessary technology and connections to enable you to sell your work – hopefully for a tidy profit. Who am I? My name is Bill Womack. You probably know at least some of the projects I’ve worked on. Having started in 2002, I’ve built scenery for companies such as the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, FS Addon, RealAir, Aerosoft, JustFlight, and my own iBlueYonder brand. I’m currently a senior developer with Orbx Simulation Systems. Without undue modesty, I know a thing or two about sim scenery, and I’ve got the forehead-shaped dents in my desk to prove it. Who are You? Ideally, you’d have at least a little knowledge of 3D design, but it doesn’t need to be anything more than cursory at the beginning. I’ll be training you in specific software anyway, so you’d probably have to toss out what you already know. What you should have in abundance is a fascination with modeling and texturing, and a desire to become a professional developer. The other thing needed is time to learn and produce. This probably means that you would need to be at one end or the other of your primary earning years; either a student or a retiree. That said, if you’ve got a job that currently pays the bills but leaves you plenty of time for other pursuits, that could work as well. Oh, and you’ll need to have at least some aptitude for learning new things, because those new things will be flying right and left at you! So, in short, you’ll need three things: desire, time, and ability. Interested? Get in Touch! Yes folk's XPlane 11.30 beta is released, I've installed it, but at this moment in time bugs are being reported (which are to be expected) but it's meant to have some beautiful effects, update it via your installer.   19. Posted October 25, 2018 Almost! we’ve been running a small scale private beta for the last few weeks while we finish new features and fix major bugs. I don’t want to curse the beta, but it looks like we may be able to get the public beta posted this weekend. In the last two days we’ve had two major show-stopping bugs, but both are fixed, so we’re going to keep trying to nail this thing down and get it posted. The public beta features not only the new particle system, available to third parties, but it is now in use for most (but not all) of the built-in effects in the sim. New Plane-Maker options let authors specify which effect categories (e.g. engine effects, wheel effects, etc.) they want to replace. The entire airport of Brussels (EBBR) has been faithfully recreated with custom high resolution ground and building textures, animated ground traffic, custom surroundings and airport lights and shading effects on the airport buildings. RE_Library by Einstein is also incorporated in this version so in future you won't need both libraries installed. If you already have the OpenSceneryX installer on your machine, just re-run it and it will just download the new content. If not, grab the installer from opensceneryx.com.
