  1. Aircraft development group FlightFactor have been making headlines a lot recently. An uncharacteristic streak of activity on the public relations front have lead to numerous updates to their A320 simulation, and now a sneak peek at retrofitted Large Display System (LDS) panels for their 757 aircraft. The LDS outfit, currently in use with some of UPS' fleet of 757 and 767 planes, replaces the aging CRT displays present on original aircraft. A UPS outfitted 757, sporting similar (though not exactly the same) panels to those posted today. In a post on the X-Plane.org Forum back in October last year, user Palmi asks about the potential for a cockpit upgrade coming to the 757 in future - to which FF developer den_rain claimed the team had plans for. The thread lay dormant over the New Years break and three months subsequently, until den_rain posted again, saying: It's a pretty big post.. see the link for more: SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK : RUMOUR: FlightFactor 757 Retrofit Cockpit Update Coming Soon | Threshold WWW.THRESHOLDX.NET A FlightFactor developer has shared a sneak peek of retrofitted Large Display System panels on the 757, after claiming LDS panels will be in a later update to the plane. | Threshold: Question the Answers.

It was created based on the Model 200. The new model 300 had a modified airframe and more powerful engines with redesigned cowlings. Later on Beechcraft started modifying the 300 Model by stretching the fuselage by close to three feet, two cabin windows on each side were added, and also famous winglets. This type was introduced in 1990 and is now known as King Air 350. Besides the changes to the fuselage the 350 was given a higher MTOW of 15,000 lb. From1998 Beechcraft implemented the UltraQuiet active noise canceling system as standard on all King Air 350s. In 2003, the 350 avionics were upgraded. Nevertheless our model represents the type just before 2003. The SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : King Air 350 STORE.X-PLANE.ORG NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK :

  6. Version 4 of OpenSceneryX, one of the most popular X-Plane scenery libraries containing many objects, facades and polygons, has been released. The update was announced on their website (as well as the Threshold Forum). The full changelog is below. New scenery objects in this version: Incorporated DT Library by Darrell Thompson into OpenSceneryX, which includes a large set of markings suitable for small to medium airports. einstein has contributed seasonal variants (autumn and winter without snow) for the original OpenSceneryX tree forests. This enables autumn and winter (without snow) for any sceneries that use originl OpenSceneryX forests, as well as most of the individual plant and tree objects. madmaxland has contributed a spring seasonal variant for the original OpenSceneryX tree forests. This enables springtime for any sceneries that use original OpenSceneryX forests, as well as most of the individual plant and tree objects. FlyAgi has contributed seasonal variants (autumn, winter mild and winter deep) for all his vegetation forests. Modified scenery objects in this version: The runway closed 'X' marking has been replaced by an improved version from DT Library which includes normals. Some aircraft, both jets and props, are now incorporated into the X-Plane® static aircraft system. Fixed missing TEXTURE_NORMAL in oil fired power station. Other changes: Major new feature: Support for seasons. OpenSceneryX now exports seasonal regions compatible with core X-Plane, the Four Seasons plugin, the TerraMaxx plugin and the xAmbience plugin. Seasonal support is optional and can be chosen on install. Note that we only support seasons for library contributions that have seasonal alternatives. Major new feature: Support for injecting OpenSceneryX items into X-Plane® built-in libraries. This can be used to enhance the X-Plane® automatic object placement and autogen. This is optional and can be selected on install. Currently some of the OpenSceneryX aircraft are exported to be used for static aircraft around airports. Updated the Backup Library to v2.2.0 The library still includes the Backup Library but it is now separate and the installer gives the choice of using or not using it. The website now provides more information about lines in the library - layer group, layer offset, line width and whether the line is mirrored. The website now provides more information about objects in the library - whether they have multiple LODs, custom lights, named lights, parameterised lights, spill lighting, whether the object tilts on uneven ground and whether it emits black or white smoke. Also, objects are marked as 'animated' automatically now, by directly examining the .obj file for animation commands. Markdown is now supported for all descriptions of items. This is automatically converted to HTML for publishing on the website. Many descriptions that were being squashed down to a single paragraph have been rewritten using Markdown and tables, e.g. many of the polygons, making them far more readable. ‍ Just a few previews of the many new items added are shown below: The library requires V2.5.0 of the OpenSceneryX installer, which can be downloaded from the official website here. 13. Brief X-Plane Vulkan and Metal Update Over on the X-Plane Developer website, Ben Supnik has posted a brief update regarding X-Plane’s new graphics engines. The key points addressed in this post state what the Laminar team have currently been able to get working in X-Plane with these two new engines: Plane-Maker and Airfoil Maker run in Vulkan and Metal. X-Plane runs in Vulkan and Metal up to the main menu (e.g. the app starts) but can’t yet fly or show scenery. The Vulkan and Metal code runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. The Vulkan code runs on Nvidia, AMD and Intel drivers. All shaders are ported. All of the zoo animals (abstractions around part of the graphics engine) are now complete. We killed off the last 2 or 3 since the live feed. Ben states that over the last couple of weeks himself and Sidney have been working to port all rendering passes to the new code. This means that they don’t have to go through OpenGL to fly the aircraft. An important point made at the end of the post states that at this stage they aren’t currently able to give a measure on what performance will be like with these new engines. However, they state that once they’re able to sit down in the sim with aircraft they should be able to give an idea of what kind of performance can be expected with Metal and Vulkan.
