Fellow Loungers, I have just received an update from QualityWings via Facebook which contains a variety of updates on updates and other development work, this related to their Ultimate 146, 757 and 787 products. The most interesting for me personally is the introduction of PBR materials and a remote CDU (on your phone, tablet etc) for the 787 product, 'due soon' as part of the upcoming v1.1.3 update. == For those of you that are not on Facebook, the main updates by product are as follows: Ultimate 146 Following the release of the Ultimate 146 for Prepar3D Version 4, we received some unbelievably positive feedback and will be providing an update for the 146 in P3DV4 soon. Development work is complete for this update and it is currently undergoing final stages of testing. Ultimate 757 Around the time that we announced that that the 146 was being worked on for a release in P3DV4, we also indicated that the 757 was also in development for the platform. There was a bit more work than anticipated to make the product work in P3DV4, but we assure you that it is in the works. With that said, I must also acknowledge that we are aware of some of the difficulties being experienced by some of this product regarding the activation process. We do apologize for any inconvenience. We will be moving our current Ultimate 757 product from the Esellerate system and migrating the customer database to the Flight1 licensing system. That should alleviate some of the issues some of you may have been experiencing. Again, please bear with us as we work through this transition, which will coincide with the release of the product into P3DV4. Ultimate 787 As previously mentioned, we are continuing to improve the 787 and Update 1.1.3 is due soon. This update to the 787 includes some exciting new additions, one is a result of improved features available with the release of P3D Version 4.4: Physically Based Rendering The 787s models and textures have been adapted to take advantage of these exciting and impressive visual features. PBR is really exciting stuff, but it’s too bad that the 787 fuselage isn’t completely aluminum. Because it would sure be fun to see how that looks. But I guess we will have to wait for upcoming products in development that can really show off bare metal. We sill think it helps the 787 visuals tremendously. We highly encourage everyone to upgrade to the latest version of P3D to benefit from the improved visuals. PBR models will not be available for FSX and outdated versions of P3Dv4. == Plus, additional info via the FSElite page: In addition to PBR, the next version of the Ultimate 787 will bring support for Remote CDU on the lower MFD and the Electronic Flight Bag. Remote CDU will mean you can see any page from the lower display (including the FMS) on multiple mobile devices including Android tablets/phones, Apple products and even Windows tablets and phones.   4. It’s been a few months since we last heard about the Ultimate 787 from QualityWings Simulations. However, today they’ve come out of that silence and posted a new image on their Facebook. The teaser image shows us two important things: Wind data looks to have been added The update, 1.1.2, is due out in September 2018. We already know that RealLight from TFDi Design is going to be included in the new update. We’re also hoping that the changes in the fuel loading will be present also! Hopefully soon, the team will provide more details on what users can expect from the update. We would like to express our thanks to all our customers who provided feedback - good or bad - and thus assisted us greatly in finding solutions. Of course this hotfix does not address every single reported issue but it takes care of some high priority items that needed to be taken care of quickly. Now that the dust has settled a bit after the release we have a good idea of where we stand and what needs to be worked on. We will of course continue to improve the 787 in the next weeks and months. Some key aspects will be a rework of the EFB Dispatch page, improvements to VNAV / LNAV, stability/performance optimization and more. - The post goes on to describe two install options (upgrade from v1.1.0 or full reinstall).   8. TSL CREW please spread the word to avoid the pain that I have been going through .... (this probably only applies to FSX & FSX:SE versions as the P3D release presumably only shipped with SP1 from day 1?): Anyone that is upgrading the Quality Wings 787 to the latest Service Pack released in May 2018 needs to remove liveries and uninstall the QW787 BEFORE they run the service pack (SP1 = v1.1.0) installer. I also recommend backing up QW787 config files (qw787.cfg and the 2 aircraft.cfg files) before you do this as these are not preserved and you will have to manually configure things like remembering whether the aircraft should start in cold and dark panel state; any changes you have made to fix ATC aircraft type call outs; airline parking preferences etc. Guidance posted recently on the official support page: — Installation / update of existing installation Due to the scope of this update we do not offer a patch installer like in previous hotfixes. For a successful installation, please follow the steps below: 1. Uninstall all installed liveries using the QW Dispatcher (can be found in your start menu) 2. Uninstall the Ultimate 787 Collection (Click Start , and then click Control Panel. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program. Select the Ultimate 787 Collection) 3. Download the full installer (v1.1.0) from Flight1.com 4. Reinstall the product using the new installer — Note: There are no warnings or programmatic attempts to detect an existing installation in the sim. The service pack just wipes a whole load of QW 787 config files (including the qw787.cfg and two aircraft.cfg files under the main Simobjects/Airplanes folder path) and won’t let you reinstall liveries easily. With the highly successful release of the 787 for FSX, the QualityWings beta team has been hard at work testing this bird to get it ready for v4. A Norwegian flight had the honors to be named the fastest flight since the Concorde. Captain Harold van Dam flew his Boeing 787 Dreamliner, reaching speeds of 776 miles per hours on the 3,458-mile flight. Surprisingly, the captain also admits that the plane could have gone even faster, if they didn’t encounter turbulence.
