  2. FS2Crew has been developing Ultimate Ground Crew X (UGCX) for a while now, but today they posted a brief post on Facebook suggesting that they are finally over some of their biggest challenges. The team wrote that at long last they have “super accurate pushbacks” now. Described as what was holding up development, but the team have now “finally mastered it”. Whilst the team are moving on with development, they do need some support from the community. They are currently using the key assignment “DE-ICE (ON/OFF)” within the FSX/P3D environment. However, they need some help with other languages other than English for this. They are asking that if you are able to, you should provide a screenshot of what this key assignment looks like in German, French, Spanish, Japanese and any other language that FSX / P3D supports. I suggest if you’re looking to help the team, you send it to them via their Facebook page. No other details were shared at this time, but we’ll let you know as and when we hear anything new.   3. X-Crafts has posted on their Facebook page that they have just opened their registration form for new beta testers. As stated in the post, the new ERJ from X-Crafts is going into beta testing very soon and they need new beta testers for this. As places are limited, and only a few people will be selected, X-Crafts is looking for people who are effective, reliable, engaged, and who have previous experience beta testing. As of yet, no information has been given on release date; however, typically beta testing means that the product is near release.   4. Flightbeam Portland (KPDX) Entering Beta – Testers Needed With any Flightbeam product, the anticipation for the product release always seems high. Their upcoming version of Portland (KDPX) is nearing completion as it was confirmed that the team are entering beta testing for the product. With the news of beta testing about to take place, the team are also looking for people to assist in making sure it’s fit for release. The message post on the Flightbeam forums state that the team are looking for someone who has experience in testing, and, obviously, owns Prepar3D V4. To apply, head to the Flightbeam forums, register an account and drop a detailed message explaining why you want to test, what qualities you will bring and an overview of any previous testing experience.   7. X-Plane 11.30 Beta 4 and Steam X-Plane 11.30 Beta 4 is out, both for Laminar Customers and for Steam! The fix list for beta 4 is pretty short because we intentionally cut back on what we added to it. Beta 4 had one job, and that job was to not be as broken as beta 1, beta 2, or beta 3. X-Plane 11.30 Beta 4 does not have the performance improvements we have been working on for the last week and a half; Sidney and I found a bunch of things that are slowing 11.30 down, but we didn’t want to risk yet another broken beta. This stuff should be ready for beta 5 in a few days. The public beta for 11.30 has been unusual in that it took us quite a few betas to get a stable non-crashing, usable beta, and during the waiting period we heard a lot of complaints from Steam users about being left out, and a lot of questions about when the beta would make it to Steam. Here’s the problem: we don’t know the date when a beta will make it to Steam. Here’s the rough algorithm: 10 BETA = BETA + 1 20 RELEASE BETA 30 WAIT ABOUT 24 HOURS 40 IF BETA CRASHES GOTO 10 50 RELEASE STEAM BETA So in the case of X-Plane 11.30, we had to go back and recut betas due to a crash in the joystick code (beta 1), a crash when the radios were on (beta 2) and airplanes falling through airports into the abyss (beta 3). One thing to note: if there’s a beta and it’s a few days old and it’s not on Steam, it’s because the beta has a known bug that makes it so unusable that you wouldn’t want to set your Steam install to use it. I see no reason to have a beta that crashes when you start it. (Since we collect automatic crash reports from users, we have frequency information about how often crashes are happening, and we can identify crashes that are significantly more frequent than what we’d expect in a stable beta.) Yes folk's XPlane 11.30 beta is released, I've installed it, but at this moment in time bugs are being reported (which are to be expected) but it's meant to have some beautiful effects, update it via your installer.   10. Posted October 25, 2018 Almost! we’ve been running a small scale private beta for the last few weeks while we finish new features and fix major bugs. I don’t want to curse the beta, but it looks like we may be able to get the public beta posted this weekend. In the last two days we’ve had two major show-stopping bugs, but both are fixed, so we’re going to keep trying to nail this thing down and get it posted. The public beta features not only the new particle system, available to third parties, but it is now in use for most (but not all) of the built-in effects in the sim. New Plane-Maker options let authors specify which effect categories (e.g. engine effects, wheel effects, etc.) they want to replace. At this point it looks like we won’t have anything public for Vulkan this year, although I do think we will hit some internal milestones. X-Plane 11.30 Public Beta: Are We There Yet? But they do work hard : just saw that from Steam : I will add that we heard (from Helisimmer during a recent "3 Grumpy simmers" episode), the incoming arrival of a new type of aircraft in AFS2 : helicopters ! Well at least the 1st one : an R22 that has been tested and verified by a well known heli pilot Claude Bouchard.   16. Laminar Research has released 11.20 beta 4 version of X-Plane. The latest version provides a number of new features and improvements, including native VR support. Along with native VR, the new release includes updated VR-friendly aircraft, including the addition of the Aerolite 103. The update also enables higher performance graphics code for AMD drivers. Since the last Hornet update, most of the navigation systems (TACAN, ADF, and Waypoints) are now functional, the flight model / flight control system is further refined, internal and external sounds have been improved, texturing of the cockpit art is now using an improved albedo effect, aerial refueling is working, fuel dump has been added, conditional switch position based on airfield or aircraft carrier start has been implemented, more realistic LEX vapor, and a more dynamic simulation of the individual engines. The team is making great progress. The big items to still implement though include STT/ACM radar modes for air-to-air radar, AUTO, CCIP, and MAN modes for unguided bombs, and the moving map display option. Once these are completed, we will move the Hornet into full testing. We are also working on an extensive set of interactive training missions.   21. One of the most impressive #freeware projects currently under development is HungaryVFR which will be available as a public beta soon. I reached out to one of the developers of the team (which by the way also listen to the name HungaryVFR) to find out more. According to this guy, the release of the beta is imminent but there’s still a lot to do thereafter as this statement suggests: Yes, you heard right. The team is not only working on a VFR suitable representation of Hungary (by the way in Hungarian the country’s name is Magyarország, try to pronounce that ), they are also working on a #freeware of LHBP Budapest which is a much-needed destination for our sim. A few hours ago, the Russian design team released Beta 1 of the much anticipated third version of this aircraft. Beta 1 is a public beta so if you’re an owner of the current version you can now try beta 1 and help the team squash all bugs before the actual release.
