  1. Leonardo Softhouse FlythemaddogX MD-82 Updated (SP1b351) The news I know many of you have been waiting for: Leonardo Softhouse has updated their FlythemaddogX MD-82 for both 32-bit simulators and 64-bit sims. As we previously covered, the new update brings a wealth of new features and bug fixes. One of those updates for the P3D v4.4 version is the inclusion of PBR materials on the exterior of the aircraft as well as some native PBR liveries. The other key update this new version brings is the enhanced icing simulation. If you leave your aircraft in cold conditions, snow and ice will build up on your aircraft, which impact the aerodynamics of the aircraft. Realistic hold over times after de-icing will also be simulated, and the 64-bit version also integrates Active Sky and GSX Level 2 for icing simulation. Furthermore, the P3Dv4.x version will enable users to visually see icing on their aircraft. 2. Leonardo Softhouse FlythemaddogX MD-80 Series Development Update The team at Leonardo Softhouse has released a new development post highlighting the upcoming update to the MD-80 series. A huge part of that update is the inclusion of PBR texturing, as well as the expansion pack of the MD-83 and MD-88. The team has been working hard to ensure that they release an aircraft that takes advantage of the new technology found in P3D V4.4 and have successfully converted their external model of the ‘base’ MD-82 to take full advantage of the new PBR technique. As you can see from the below screenshots, the difference visually is striking to say the least. Equally, if it’s not something you want to use, then the load manager will enable you to turn it on / off with a mouse click. 5. Leonardo Software, the team behind the upcoming FlythemaddogX MD80, has not been resting on their laurels of late, with the team pushing hard to get their upcoming MD80 into the hands of simmers. Today, they have announced some new information on the product including the price and even a tentative release timeframe, let’s get into it! First off, their new website has gone live along with the downloads for the MD80 users manual as well as a quick guide with the new website being found here. Second up, Trino has finished the last of the 6 included liveries for the MD80! If you recall, Trino recently underwent an operation and was sidelined from work while he recovered. It is obvious that this was just a minor setback, and judging by the looks of his American Airlines livery, we are in for a real treat! With the last livery completed, Leonardo will soon update the photo section of their Facebook page with more screenshots of the MD80! Next, they are going to give their beta group what they expect to be the final beta build prior to the initial v1.0 release, and if all goes to plan with no major issues found, we could see the Maddog release as early as this week! They will let us know exactly when that will be in the next few days so stay tuned! Now, onto the big question: will it be compatible with the newly released Prepar3D v4.2? That answer is a resounding yes! The Maddog will be compatible with 4.2 out of the box and runs without issues but they will still have to evaluate if there is some new feature in v4.2 that can be added to the aircraft. Onto pricing. FlytheMaddogX will be available from Simmarket in 2 versions, with 2 separate prices. The first version will be the 64 bit edition, being compatible with P3D v4.1-v4.2. The price of the 64 bit edition will be 80€. The second version will be the 32 bit edition, with it being compatible with FSX, FSX-SE, and P3D v3.4. The price for the 32 bit edition will be 65€. It should be noted that there will be a 5€ discount for both versions during the first week of release, with news for the customers of the legacy version to come shortly. They end their post by saying thank you to all for your patience and your warm interest in the Fly the Maddog X. When more news becomes available on the upcoming MD80, you’ll find it here! 6. It is no secret that many people were wishing to get their hands on Leonardo’s upcoming MD80, as previously announced for a release at the end of January, but Leonardo have provided an update as to why they missed their deadline. In a short post on Facebook, Leonardo explained what has delayed their upcoming MD80 from being released. They started off the post explaining that the release shouldn’t be so distant in the future, but they’ll only communicate a release date when they’re 100% sure on a date. Next up, they shared an insight into the current status of the liveries and the paintkit. They are still waiting for Trino, the person in charge of making the liveries and the paintkit, to finish his work after he recovers. His work consists of delivering the expected 6 liveries as well as the paintkit. As a closing statement, they acknowledge that this is not what you may like to hear, but it reflects the current situation, and they want to be as clear as possible. That was all that was said for now but while you wait for more information, why not check out some of our exclusive beta footage or feast your eyes on some of our exclusive screenshots! 10. From their Facebook page, more good news coming in from Leonardo Software for the Maddog! I'm just a tiny little bit upset that they won't be doing the analog version of the cockpit which for me was what I was looking forward to... Moving into the era where everything is digital (737 to a certain extent, 777, 787...) I would have wanted to have this classic in analog with a neat FMC. I guess we cannot have it all after all!
