Greetings fellow flight simmers, I feel that it's about time to announce a special project that I'm working on that i'm sure will please the masses. How many of you would like to see some life in Aerofly? Well, the time has come (or just about has come) It's important for everyone to understand that this is not an official IPACS project or feature at this time but down the road it very much can be. For this feature to be made internal it will still need more work to make it fully 'deployable' to make it easy for us to add this everywhere. But for now I will only focus on the South Florida DLC. I may add this to other DLC's following but please don't hold me to it. So, let's get down to it, I will be releasing a demo shortly that will add road and sea traffic, plus a couple of other Easter eggs that you will have to just find yourself A lot of detail has gone into this, including some highly detailed vehicles that match the real life counterparts. My focus right now is for proof of concept, and the proof is that it is pretty amazing and i'm sure everyone will agree. I feel that this project is a long time coming and when you see it in action you too will agree that it brings Aerofly to the next level of realism. Please give me a little bit more time with this as i'm still working out some minor items, and the Miami area is a bit busy so I want to try to fully capture that in this project. For now, until I release the demo for all of you to enjoy, here are some sneak peeks (static ones but you get the idea). Live Flight Data Channels LiveTraffic can read from the following sources, called channels: ADS-B Exchange, (see usage Terms & Conditions) both online live data and historical files (see section 'Historical Data' here, especially the requirements!) OpenSky Network, (see usage Terms & Conditions) using its REST API LiveTraffic can even read several channels at the same time. Warnings apply, see Basic Settings. Display of Aircraft Well, yea...that's what it's all about: Aircraft 3D model as per installed CSL libraries. LiveTraffic uses the very same library (xplanemp) as XSquawkBox and X-IvAp do. Expect pretty similar behaviour. Aircraft labels (the yellow text), content configurable Basic flight modelling: LiveTraffic tries to mimic those aircraft movements, which are not transported by the flight data: Rotate, Pitch, Flare Turns (Roll yet to come, currently wings stay level) Acceleration, Deceleration Gear and Flap movement Lights (Beacon, Navigation, Landing) Landing Simulation in case no more flight data available during approach, so that the aircrafts continues its descend down to the ground, rolls out, stops, and only then vanishes. LiveTraffic is not into taxiing simulation, though... Aircraft and Flight Information Display LiveTraffic can show aircraft information and updated dynamic flight data (like position, speed, altitude and so on) about the aircrafts as shown in X-Plane (which supposingly is very close to reality minus buffering period, but LiveTraffic certainly needs to interpolate between available data points). A/C Info Window Shows aircraft info for one or more aircrafts right within X-Plane. Aircrafts selectable by transponder code, registration, call sign, flight number, and index within LiveTraffic, or Auto-selecting the closest aircraft in viewing direction. Multiple a/c info windows can be opened in parallel. Aircraft Information Window /using-lt/aircraft-information-window Data Refs LiveTraffic makes good use of X-Plane's data ref feature. Historically, this was just meant to ease my development life as I could use the DataRefEditor plugin to change the configuration and read aircrafts' status. Thus, it became the backbone of the configuration object in LiveTraffic and remains available to the outside world. DataRefs /reference/datarefs TCAS TCAS might or might not work. The "TCAS hack" of xplanemp requires AI aircrafts to be set up, see installation. Here's a list of collected feedback...mostly positive actually 🙂. For those of us who love flight simulators, this could be an exciting watch. It seems to be a yearly tradition at Orbx, and this year will be no different. Tomorrow, during the Orbx livestream, CEO John Venema, will give the community a run-down of what their 2019 roadmap will look like. If you’d like to watch the stream, you can do so via the Orbx Twitch channel. It starts at 20:00 zulu on Thursday 20 December 2018. With a successful 2018 of new releases, brand new technology and huge expansion behind them, it’s going to be exciting to see what the team have planned for next year. Whatever news comes from the livestream, we’ll be reporting live on the site to keep you updated if you’re unable to stream. We’re expecting a range of announcements and previews including more information on TrueEarth GB in Prepar3D, an update on OpenLCs and a whole slew of X-Plane and P3D products to be confirmed from the team. What are you hoping to see announced during the livestream? SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK : https://fselite.net/news/orbx-2019-roadmap-being-revealed-tomorrow/

11.20 VR4 is Live on the servers. Aside from the usability fixes that Ben already mentioned, the major ‘feature’ in VR4 is…Oculus users will no longer need SteamVR. If you downloaded it just for X-Plane, go ahead and remove it. It will no longer be necessary. As we said we would do from the very beginning, we investigated the relative performance of X-Plane through the native Oculus SDK versus SteamVR and what we found, through data collection, is that the overall experience for Oculus users was better by going through the Oculus SDK directly. I know many of you are thinking “Duh! I told you that a month ago ya big dummy!” and yes…yes you did. Fortunately/Unfortunately, we try not to make engineering decisions based on gut feelings and anecdotal evidence when we have a way to collect actual numbers. We wanted to tackle a majority of the usability issues affecting everyone before we looked into performance. One of the hardest things about hosting a party is sitting alone in an empty room waiting for your friends to arrive. Will they come? Will they not? Then you have someone show up and stay a while, but the next person doesn't come soon enough and they leave... Alone again. Welcome to our Party House, bring as many friends as you want! https://discord.gg/0YbQspCG2YjFwmO7 I'm excited to announce that starting today our LIVE STUDIOS are now open. This is a place where everyone, patrons and non-patrons alike can go in and host a live show. One of the benefits of hosting it in an already large and populated Discord server is that a pre-populated audience will now see what you're live thru an announcement. Some may wonder why we would do this, well, if the community grows, we grow and everybody wins. We've already demonstrated our commitment to highlighting other broadcasters by offering Patrons at the Flight Crew tier and up the option to be Featured right on the Front Page. It's time to sweeten the pot, for everyone. These studios are just another step forward in demonstrating our support for everyone interested in growing the passion for our little corner of Twitch, the more the merrier! GUIDELINES LIVE Studio A and LIVE Studio B are available on a first come, first serve basis for ALL members. Create as many invites as you wish or use these permanent ones. ( LIVE Studio A: https://discord.gg/0YbQspCG2Ym95ZBx / LIVE Studio B: https://discord.gg/0YbQspCG2YlxXM6X ) Post "Going Live" announcements in the member_streams text channel only Mute any member not behaving in your live show Patrons at Flight Crew + will automatically have their stream featured on the Home Page of TheSkypark.com
