  1. Over on their forum, PMDG has announced that they’ve pushed out build 3.00.9329 which implements PBR for Prepar3D v4.4 users. This update release follows after numerous previews posted by PMDG featuring the main feature, PBR which is implemented as of this build. Asides from PBR, other small bug fixes, tweaks and general cleanup have been added to further improve the overall experience which is also available to FSX, FSX-SE and P3D v3 users. You can view a complete changelog at the end of this article. For all Prepar3D v4 users, Randazzo has dropped a notice quoted directly below: To grab a hold of this update, head to the Operations Center and hit the wheel in the top right, from there you should be able to update your product. If you don’t already own it, you can grab a hold of the PMDG 747-400 base back at a price of $139.99 (Excl. VAT) for Prepar3D v4. Head over to PMDG’s website to view the 747-8 expansion and FSX releases here. Thanks to Sam Wheeler for the screenshots. 2. Following their initial PBR progress update two weeks ago, PMDG’s Robert Randazzo has dropped some new mouth-watering previews of the 747-400 QOTS II in all of it’s PBR glory, marking 50 years since the first Boeing 747 took flight. Also, he’s provided a short update in regards to the upcoming PBR update. The below previews of the 747 in its classic launch livery (N401PW) is fully tricked out in what PMDG believes is their final round of changes to PBR rendering on a fully metallic 747-400. Bringing your attention to the reflections on the metal body, you see how PBR breathes air into the queen’s lungs dynamically reflecting the surrounding bed of clouds and skyline from a couple of angles. Following the previous set of previews, take notice of how many improvements and changes have been made in the way PMDG has treated the differences in reflective quality along lap joints and rivet lines in the skin since the last update. The previews don’t end there, included also is some shots of N662US, another one of the first production airframes. Clearly demonstrated in the shots below, is how different the reflection is on the painted surface in comparison to the bare metal surface. PMDG has finished up their PBR implementation for now and is preparing to push it out to the testing team this week. It is expected to be a short test period and once complete, the update should promptly be pushed out via the PMDG Operations Center. In celebration of British Airways’ 100th birthday and the aircraft they are said to be painting in the legacy BOAC livery, PMDG has released a paint of what it should look like (G-BYGC) which can be obtained from the PMDG Operations Center. Furthermore, PMDG will be consolidating Prepar3D v4 compatibility effective with their next update cycle, only v4.4+ of Prepar3D will be supported going forward meaning if you want to obtain the next update, you’ll need to be on v4.4 or greater. This change has no impact on FSX or Prepar3D v3 users. Randazzo will be back in a couple of days with new information on PMDG’s new forum system, the NG3, Global Flight Operations and PMDG’s view on FSX/P3D development moving forward. He might even slide in a remark or two in relation to X-Plane! We’ll endeavour to let you know once this update has been released and of any future update posts on PMDG’s forum. 3. FS2Crew - PMDG 747 QOTS II V1.3 Released with support for 747-8! Please Note: If you no longer wish to receive FS2Crew News, please click the 'Manage your Subscription" link found at the bottom of this newsletter. [4 January 2019] Priority NOTAM: Version 1.3 for FS2Crew: PMDG 747 QOTS II Edition Released! --Adds FREE support (although limited) for the new PMDG 737-8 models-- Please visit: www.fs2crew.com FS2Crew is happy to announce that Version 1.3 for the PMDG 747 QOTS II is now available. This is a significant update for the PMDG 747 QOTS II. It is a free update. The update is built into the main installer only. There is no stand-alone update installer. You do not need to uninstall the current version. To obtain the update, please login to your FS2Crew account (the link is on the top of the FS2Crew website), and click "COMPLETED ORDERS", then re-download and re-install the package again. You do not need to uninstall any earlier version. Change Log: Version 1.3 Fixes and Changes: The 8 model is now supported for free, but with some limitations: 747-8 USERS READ THIS PART CAREFULLY!!! 1. FS2Crew 747 QOTS II only supports the 8 model in P3D V4, not FSX. The reason is due to a panel window limit in FSX. Again, this is all the more reason to move to P3D V4. FSX is old and out-of-date. FSX is yesterday's news. It's time to move forward to P3D 64 bits. It's the future. Do NOT try manually copying the FS2Crew entries into the 8 model's panel.cfg in FSX or you'll mess up the plane! 2. Due to SDK, legal, and technical limits, the FS2Crew FO cannot interface with the Electronic Checklist System(ECL), so you'll be using the same paper checklists you used in the 400. 3. How to add FS2Crew to the 8 model in P3D V4: You must run the FS2Crew PMDG 747 QOTS II Config manager again and re-enable FS2Crew. This is necessary to add the FS2Crew entries to the 8 model's panel.cfg file. Anti-Ice callouts fixed. Other minor bug fixes. 5. The team at FS2Crew has been good at communicating to the community about the status of their 1st service pack for the PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II Edition. A few days ago, the team released the free update for the community to download and enjoy. This update is rather large and includes new voices, bug fixes and lots of requests based on customer feedback. Included in this new update is the addition of 6 new voice sets including German Male captain, another American captain and a further Australian FO. As well as additional sets, there’s also some new voice sets including UK Ground Crew and cabin crew public announcements and a brand new American cabin crew. Not only have new voice sets been added, but some new features as well. FS2Crew is now fully integrated with the PMDG Ground Service Vehicles. This is controled via a new configuration option on the secondary panel. Additionally, there is a new engine start sequence, new gate arrival procedures and also talk to the ground crew by holding down the R/T INT switch. Finally, there was also a host of bug fixes in this new update. This includes the FO properly calling “Plus 100” based on the config option, being able to call the ground crew when airbourne and ensuring that flight numbers are displayed on the FS2Crew map. There’s a lot more, and we’ve listed them down below. To download this huge update, you will need to log into your FS2Crew account and click on “COMPLETED ORDERS”. You can then re-download the installer and install it over the top of your current installation. There’s no separate download, nor the need to uninstall first. If you don’t already, you can buy FS2Crew’s PMDG 747 QOTS II Edition here. You can also see FS2Crew’s roadmap here.
