  1. Chris and his team just posted on Twitter about the road to their Early Access release Q2 2019. Here is the Steam article, the interesting parts are in bold here : Ok now I'm excited 😛
  2. Although released at the tail end of 2018, the team at HiFi Sim Tech has continued to release updates for their weather engine for X-Plane 11: Active Sky XP. The update comes as part of the 1st service pack release but fixes a couple of errors found with the first release candidate. This update reduces the roll motion in turbulence and also adjusts turbulence for less effect on light & medium weight GA aircraft. Furthermore, the team has addressed a memory leak relating to logging. You can download Active Sky XP SP1 Release Candidate 2 from HiFi Sim Tech’s website. You can buy Active Sy XP from multiple resellers, all of which are listed on the Active Sky XP product page. Full Change Log: Slightly reduced roll motion in turbulence effect Adjusted turbulence for less overall effect for light/medium weight GA aircraft (2000-10000lbs) Fixed potential memory leak/crash/OOM issue related to logging Fixed an error in parsing old .fms flight plan format containing an uppercase “3 VERSION” line SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK : https://fselite.net/news/hifi-sim-tech-release-active-sky-xp-sp1-release-candidate-2/
  3. Captain Sim 757 Captain III 757-300 Expansion Available Captain Sim has released their 757 Captain III 757-300 Expansion pack for Prepar3D V4. Only a few weeks after multiple updates and the release of the freighter version, the team has released the final expansion pack for their 757 package. The 757-300 expansion pack includes custom engine performance, FMC set up and flight modelling to match that of the real Boeing 757-300. Both engine variants (RB211 and PW2043) are included, but it is not a requirement to own the RR expansion pack. You will, however, have to own the 757-200 base package. As expected, the product uses the ACE system for use of downloading free liveries, adding other things such as winglets and other features. The Captain Sim 757 Captain III 757-300 Expansion Pack is available now for Prepar3D V4 for $19.99. It is worth noting that the price of the base pack has now gone up from $75.70 to now $99.99. Update: After we published the story, Captain Sim applied a ‘sale’ to the price, bringing it back to $75.70. No word on when the ‘sale’ will end. Full Feature List (both engine types): Custom engine performance Custom FMC setup Custom Flight Model SOURCE INFO https://www.captainsim.com/store/ https://fselite.net/news/captain-sim-757-captain-iii-757-300-expansion-available/
  4. After the release of the Captain Sim 757 Captain III Freighter for P3Dv4 earlier this year, the development team has released the 32-bit version. The 32-bit version is compatible with FSX, FSX:SE and Prepar3D V3. The 32-bit version of the aircraft is an add-on for the base pack and brings the complete freighter experience along with it. In total, 11 models have been released with the expansion pack, and include both engine variants: PW and RR. Other features include custom engine performance, custom flight model and animated high loaders and a variation on the freighter model itself. The Captain Sim 757 Captain III Freighter is now available in 32-bit form for $19.99. Unlike in the 64-bit world, there doesn’t appear to be an essential pack, which was released days after the initial Freighter release on Prepar3D V4. Don’t forget, you will need the original base pack for FSX/P3Dv3 which is available here for $69.99. 9. Freeware Sound Pack Released for Captain Sim 757 III Over at the Captain Sim 757 Facebook group, a generous person named Alex Tavares has released his freeware 757 CS Sound Project for the Captain Sim 757 III. 757 CS Sound Project is a completely free, semi-complete overhaul/replacement for the Captain Sim 757 III’s default non-engine sounds inside and out. From the video linked above, you notice quite a major difference in quality compared to the add-on’s default sound set leaving you with a more overall immersive experience from start to finish. As mentioned above, this is a non-engine sound replacement. Amongst some of the default sounds replaced is the battery power sound, hydraulic sound, fuel pump sound, APU startup/shutdown sound and more which can be listened to at the timestamps listed in the video’s description. When installing ensure you follow and read through the included Instructions.txt as it is an installation process that may be tricky for some and requires you to change a couple of config files. If you need support or have a bug to report, you can email Alex here (atav2004@gmail.com). You can grab a hold of the 757 CS Sound Project for free over at this Google Drive link. It is compatible with the Captain Sim 757 III for both FSX and Prepar3D v3 & 4. 16. White Dot Sim Design Releases Addis Ababa for P3Dv4 (Freeware) White Dot Sim Design has recently released the updated version 1.9.3 of their great freeware release of Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ICAO: HAAB, IATA: ADD). 17. Bill Womack, who needs no introduction, has put up an offer you may not be able to refuse - if you're interested in learning professional scenery development and make a pretty penny in the future. All you need to know is that if you do get accepted, you'll be tutored by one of the biggest names in flight simulation. Here's a little teaser (click on the link below for the full write-up): Back in the day, many trades had a tradition of apprenticeship. Those with a desire to learn a skill were paired with experienced craftspeople. The apprentice got to learn a trade first-hand, and the person they were apprenticed to got an eager helper to speed along projects in return. For the right kind of learner, it was an ideal system. These days, apprenticeships are rare, but I got to thinking recently about how much I’d like to have a personally-trained assistant or three who would trade their work for learning the ins and outs of scenery design first-hand. Why not give it a go? SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : https://www.facebook.com/notes/iblueyonder/scenery-apprentice-wanted/2019098258149507/ NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK :
  18. Captain Sim CS Team Offline Posts: 2109 Joined: Nov 7th, 2005 GOODBYE FSX! Today at 3:21pm Print Post Captains, It's 12 (twelve, Karl) years since FSX release! Great sim, the last and the best one from Microsoft. Space Shuttle was our first FSX product... We are sure that FSX will continue to fly for many more years, as FS9 does, but it's time to retire FSX officially. Technically that means no more updates, no new developments for FSX. The last one is the 757 CAPTAIN III for FSX (the upcoming Freighter and -300 expansions). That's it. GOODBYE FSX! To add even more drama, we'd call it the end of 32-bit era, which means P3D2-3 are retired as well. 19. A2A Looking to Bring Accu-Sim to X-Plane Although posted a week ago, this was missed by us and was brought to our attention by kind reader. Prepar3D / FSX users have had many years of flying GA and other aircraft using the A2A Accu-Sim engine. The custom built engine works with the SimConnect API to deliver results far beyond what the default sim can offer. A question often asked to the team is “when will you bring Accu-Sim to X-Plane?” Well, Scott from the A2A team answered the question by saying “we do want to get Accu-Sim to any platform that accepts it.” Promising! Scott went onto say that during FlightSimExpo, he spoke to Austin from Laminar Research about bringing in the Accu-Sim engine into X-Plane, to which Austin said “it is possible.” Scott continued by stating that a lot of the work has to go into how X-Plane and the engine will accept the code. Right now, it was designed and works well with the P3D/FSX environment, but Accu-Sim is being developed to be more modular and independent. You can read Scott’s full statement via the A2A forums. We’ll continue to monitor how this goes, and maybe we’ll see some more positive news in the future. Speaking of A2A, we’ll have a video review of their Accu-sim Bonanza V-Tail pretty soon. 22. Sim Innovations Show Video Preview Of 737 MAX Avionics Sim Innovations has continued to make mouths water following their recent announcement of a 737 MAX avionics suite for X-Plane, this time showing a working video preview of the Captain’s PFD in a Facebook video. The video shows the take-off stage of flight, with a few abnormal events thrown in to show what the system is currently capable of – for example, excessive bank angle and sink rate warnings. All of this was accompanied by the familiar sounds of Audiobird’s soundpack for the Zibo 737. Naturally, it’s less exciting to describe this video to you in text form, so head over to the link above to see the full clip. The team made the announcement around a week ago, using only a single still image of the PFD on their Facebook page. Captioning the image, Sim Innovations said that their intention is to create the full MAX avionics suite to work alongside the Zibo 737 as a standalone application – presumably intended for cockpit builders. In the comments some days later, they also made mention of an overhead panel being included in the release – when the time comes, of course. The MAX does seem to be the flavour of the month in the X-Plane world at the moment, though, with the 737 Ultimate team announcing their MAX project just a few days ago, and RG – the modder responsible for the modification package for the Zibo 737 (which is a modification in itself) – has also been posting previews of a 737 MAX8 modification on his VK page in recent days. It appears that anyone with a taste for a modern narrowbody is going to be spoilt for choice pretty soon. https://vk.com/wall-154038623_2187 https://fselite.net/news/sim-innovations-show-video-preview-of-737-max-avionics/
  23. 10 years ago i did my first repaint for FSX and since then, i transformed hundrets of warplanes into fancy cookiejar* Racing Planes. For the anniversary of my thoroughly controversial hobby, I started to tidy up my project folders - starting with the XPFR D520 - my favourite freeware plane. i have arranged my complete Dewoitine repaint collection and presented it clearly on my website. Other Collections / Planes will follow (only my X-Plane paintjobs) That's not a big topic, i know - the only reason why i created this strange Topic is, because I think that Repaints & Freeware are too neglected in the Flightsim Youtuber and Reviewer scene. https://youtu.be/0YMu2RbVXmg *(so i am called mocking by the professional repaint pioneers: a CookieJarAirplane Designer) SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : https://www.unionvogelhirsch.de/ NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK : https://www.unionvogelhirsch.de/dewoitine-520/
