  1. Although released at the tail end of 2018, the team at HiFi Sim Tech has continued to release updates for their weather engine for X-Plane 11: Active Sky XP. The update comes as part of the 1st service pack release but fixes a couple of errors found with the first release candidate. This update reduces the roll motion in turbulence and also adjusts turbulence for less effect on light & medium weight GA aircraft. Furthermore, the team has addressed a memory leak relating to logging. You can download Active Sky XP SP1 Release Candidate 2 from HiFi Sim Tech’s website. You can buy Active Sy XP from multiple resellers, all of which are listed on the Active Sky XP product page. Full Change Log: Slightly reduced roll motion in turbulence effect Adjusted turbulence for less overall effect for light/medium weight GA aircraft (2000-10000lbs) Fixed potential memory leak/crash/OOM issue related to logging Fixed an error in parsing old .fms flight plan format containing an uppercase “3 VERSION” line SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK : https://fselite.net/news/hifi-sim-tech-release-active-sky-xp-sp1-release-candidate-2/

  5. Duo of Active Sky Updates from HiFi SimTech HiFi SimTech aren’t slowing down with making sure their products are given updates based on the community’s feedback. Over the past couple of days, both Active Sky XP (ASXP) and Active Sky for Prepar3D V4 (ASP4) were given updates which brought new fixes and a few new features to the API. For ASXP, Hifi has adjusted the text for the X-Plane turbulence override to be a little more clear regarding some of the data, fixed issues related to in-sim time and also implemented a minimum X-Plane version check system so that if the software discovers it’s below version 11.26, it will shut down ensuring users don’t experience issues. The full change log is at the bottom of this post. On the other side, ASP4 has been in open-beta testing for a little while. This new release (B6909) is a official version which adds P3DV4.4 stability, added new API functionality for access things like wind direction, speed and turbulence along with various adjustments to wind sheer positioning, voice ATIS and more. Both updates are available right now via HiFi’s website. If you’re reading this before December 23rd 2018, then you can enter to win a free copy of Active Sky XP via our raffle. Otherwise, you can buy it from a range of stores including SimMarket and Just Flight. ASP4 Full Change Log (B6909) Fixed problem with XGauge display “PRE” button toggle in TOPS mode where display would not properly show echo tops Fixed issue in interlayer aloft interpolation logic that might result in wind direction/speed inconsistencies at airports with elevations near surface/aloft layer boundaries Added new API functionality for accessing ambient wind direction, speed and turbulence Updated API documentation Adjusted wind shear positioning logic for increased dynamics Adjusted voice ATIS/flightwatch feature to include readback of visibility in meters, when METAR originally provided in meters vs. SM Added wx download corruption checksum testing and proper notification/recovery with force to offline mode allowing another attempt without crash/exception or potential future startup errors Added additional handling when wx file is corrupt for any reason Attempted fix for DNS-related issues in rare cases Adjusted Privacy Policy form/handling to prevent download errors from causing inability to continue (will now retry on next session) – Made Accept button more visible – Added 1-minute reminder to press accept button – Adjusted form size Fixed API issue regarding ambient turbulence enum P3D v4 compatibility updates ASXP Full Change Log (B6927) Adjusted options text for XP turb override to be a litle more clear regarding only surface conditions data, not actual winds experienced, being limited in this mode Fixed discrepancy in voice flightwatch option description regarding com1/com2 use (you can use either radio, as long as it is enabled for listen mode in your intercom) UI improvements during sign-in process to prevent whitespace/trailing characters in some fields Implemented minimum X-Plane version checking (11.26) and warning/shutdown if below minimum version Fixed issue with mode setting when shutting down ASXP and X-Plane is still running Fixed problem with some “steam/normal hybrid” installations causing potential crashing issues Fixed issue related to GMT/local time when using Force to Sim Time option SOURCE INFO https://hifisimtech.com/downloads/ https://fselite.net/news/duo-of-active-sky-updates-from-hifi-simtech/

  9. Not long ago, HiFi Simulations gave the first concrete details regarding their upcoming Active Sky for X-Plane. Many fans were excited to see how the weather engine would impact the simulation. On a brand new page dedicated to the product, HiFi has shown off new screenshots and revealed some brand new details. As previously mentioned, it is planned to be released in December 2018. It is currently being put through release candidate testing right now with a release soon to follow. As far as pricing, the team revealed that the initial price is planned to be $39.99. This will be a special discounted price to say thanks to the fans who have stuck by the team over the years. HiFi confirmed that the price will eventually increase. As with other Active Sky products, the team intend to release updates throughout the lifecycle of the product. These updates are likely to be quality of life updates, but they will be provided free of charge. The details of what these updates provide have yet to be determined. However, just like FSX/P3D users have been used to, major version changes will see either a new product being released or a charge being applied to update. If their record of FSX/P3D products holds the same though, then these updates will be significant and offer good value for money. As for current users of FSX/P3D products, there will not be any cross-grade discount. This is down to the cost and 3 year development lead the product has had. 11. Sky Simluations MD-11 v2 Released Sky Simulations bring their McDonnell Douglas MD-11 to P3Dv4. Myself, like many others, have been dying to get their hands on an MD-11 for Prepar3D version 4. Well, we are in luck! Sky Simulations, who brought us the DC-9, have released the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 for P3Dv4. A large number of features have been added to this new version. The McDonnell Douglas MD-11, predecessor to the Douglas DC-10, first flew in January of 1990 and was produced between 1988 and 1997 still under the McDonnell Douglas name, until Boeing purchased the company and continued the production for another 2 years before finally ending the MD-11 production. The MD-11 was the last wide-body tri-jet configuration to ever be produced. It is now only in cargo service with major cargo airlines such as FedEx and UPS. It’s last commercial flight was operated by KLM between Amsterdam’s Shciphol and Montreal. 12. It’s essentially a monthly ritual, where sim pilots hit that “Update” button in the Navigraph FMS Data Manager to keep their navigational data up to date for their next flight. In doing so, the data manager updates all of the (supported) installed aircraft and add-on applications that simmers hold in their arsenal. This month though, Navigraph has made a lot of X-Plane pilots rather excited with the addition of support for Active Sky XP in the data manager application. Active Sky XP (or “ASXP” as the developer has been abbreviating it) is the name of yet-to-be-released, X-Plane specific weather engine by HiFi Simulations, and back in June, they provided their biggest update on how the development was coming along, plus information on when X-Plane users might be able to see the engine working its magic in their sim. At that point in time they opened up beta testing applications, with an expected beta of Q3 2018 – at timeframe which we have just ticked over into at the start of this month, meaning that the development appears to be right on track given the addition of this nav data support. This being the case, they also gave an expected final release of Q1 2019. All going well during the beta phase, signs seem to point to this being an accurate estimate too. That said, FSElite is not aware of any beta invitations having been sent to interested parties at the time of writing, despite the enormous amounts of applications that were received by HiFi at the time of opening the expressions of interest. Long having been at or near the top of the “stuff I want from the P3D platform” list for most X-Plane users, it’s almost hard to believe that it’s finally within reach. 13. Originally for the ill-fated Flight Sim World, the Blue Sky FS Spitfire Mk. XIV was a great little aircraft in the sim when Shane gave it a first look. Since the closure of FSW, the team at Blue Sky FS have been busy porting over the aircraft to P3Dv4. One of the biggest challenges for the team were convering the PBR rendered textures of FSW into non-PBR rendered (although that may not be the case for very long). As you can see from the shots below, the team have done a good job at conveying the realistic look with the current limites of P3Dv4. In addition to texturing, some animation errors need fixing and flight modelling needs some work on. What’s very cool is that the team at Blue Sky FS will (hopefully) be streaming parts of the development process so you can see how the magic happens. Right now, their plan is to release by the end of September and are also in talks with multiple publishing partners to release the aircraft to. This is in addition to their own self-publishing website. SOURCE INFO DEVELOPER POST LINK : NEWS SITE ARTICLE LINK : https://fselite.net/news/blue-sky-flight-simulations-spitfire-mk-xiv-update/
