  10. Buffalo Airways is a family-run airline based in Hay River, Northwest Territories, Canada, established in 1970. It operates scheduled passenger, charter passenger, charter cargo, firefighting and fuel services. Its main base is at Yellowknife Airport (CYZF). It has two other bases at Hay River/Merlyn Carter Airport (CYHY) and Red Deer Regional Airport (CYQF). The Red Deer base is the main storage and maintenance facility. The airline is also the subject of the History Channel reality series Ice Pilots NWT. Sched & Valley run Buffalo operates two regular services called the “Sched” and “Valley run”. The Sched is a daily scheduled passenger service between Yellow Knife and Hay River. It’s one of the last DC-3 passenger routes in the world and still flown by Joe himself. Another regular service is the very challenging 1000 mile Valley Run. This is a contract for food and mail delivery along the Mackenzie Valley and it’s isolated communities. When the ice roads are closed, the only way in is by air. A typical, eight hour, valley run takes from Yellow Knife to Deline, Norman Wells, Fort Good Hope and finally Tulita on the way back to Yellow Knife. The piston powered aircraft use Avgas which is hard to get. Avgas is only available in Norman Wells during the winter months when the ice roads are open. The valley run is flown by the C-46 Commando or DC-4, the only aircraft in the fleet capable to transport large amount of cargo to the short gravel strips along the valley. Buffalo is looking for new pilots, and they're looking in our direction, expect cold, expect ice, expect low visibility. It's mandatory on this tour to fly the C-47 in proper Buffalo colors, are YOU ready for the challenge!? On this tour we'll be in low and slow VFR ready planes! The Appalachian National Scenic Trail, generally known as the Appalachian Trail or simply the A.T., is a marked hiking trail in the eastern United States extending between Mount Katahdin in Maine and Springer Mountain in Georgia. The trail is about 2,200 miles (3,500 km)[a] long. The trail passes through 14 states:Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts,Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. The Appalachian Trail actually weaves through widely diverse terrain, ranging from rocky mountaintops to flat farmland. It should come as no surprise that the topography you encounter on the Appalachian Trail in Maine will look a lot different from what you might find at the other end of the trail, in Georgia. And because the Appalachian Trail runs through forests that feature a mix of trees, the trail tends to look very different from season to season. Keep that in mind and prepare your cameras ;-) START DATE: 10/17/2016 FLIGHT PLAN: KMLT 3B1 0B1 KHIE KLEB KPSF 46N KFWN KRDG W05 KJYO KSHD 97VA 44VA VA10 VA07 0A9 2NC0 57NC GA87 Use either of the FREE software below to open the flightplan: Plan G: http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/ VFR Flight: http://vfrflight.org/en/index.html We recommend the following add-ons for the ultimate VFR experience: WEATHER: Active Sky Next (for real and historic weather): http://www.hifisimtech.com SCENERY (optional): ORBX FTX Global - https://www.fullterrain.com/product/ftxglobal ORBX OpenLC North America - https://www.fullterrain.com/product/ftxgolcna PLANES: Carenado Cessna CT210M - http://www.carenado.com/CarSite/Portal/index.php?accion=product&correl=60 Any GA plane able to maintain between 120-150knts FREEWARE: Cessna u206 - http://www.flightport.de/cessna-u-206-soloy/ We'll see you in Maine!

  14. This is my suggestion for a VFR Tour in the UK, I'll admit, it's quite a long one, but it should be workable and hops can always be taken out as seen necessary. I present the UK VFR Tour. Starting at Lille LFQQ in France, we will take the short hop up to Calais-Dunkerque LFAC before crossing the English Channel. After the crossing we will land at Lydd EGMD, and continue to Bournemouth EGHH. From there we will fly down to Edinburgh and Newquay, and then we will fly NE back to Filton EGTG. From there we will cross into Wales, stopping off at Swansea and maybe doing some low level flying around the Mach Loop training area on our way to Warton EGNO. From there we will fly to Durham Tees EGNV, Glasgow EGPF, Aberdeen EGPD, stop off at RAF Kinloss EGQK and head over to Islay EGPI. From there we will cross our path and head to Edinburgh EGPH and head back to Durham Tees and then RAF Scampton EGXP, the home of the Red Arrows. From there we will head out in to Norfolk with stops at Norwich EGSH and Duxford EGSU.We will then head down over London to land at Biggin Hill EGKB. Biggin Hill is best know for it's WW2 heritage, as during the Battle of Britain, the fighters launched from the base claimed over 1,400 kills. From Biggin Hill we will fly the short hop to Shoreham EGKA where the tour will be concluded. For anyone that couldn't be bothered to read that, here is a list of the airports we will be visiting, in order. Lille LFQQ Calais-Dunkerque LFAC Lydd EGMD Bournemouth EGHH Exeter EGTE Newquay EGHQ Filton EGTG Swansea EGFH Mach Loop flying mid-leg Warton EGNO Durham Tees EGNV Glasgow EGPF Aberdeen EGPD RAF Kinloss EGQK Islay EGPI Edinburgh EGPH Durham Tees EGNV RAF Scamton EGXP Norwich EGSH Duxford EGSU Biggin Hill EGKB Shoreham EGKA Thanks to everyone in advance for your consideration, hope to see you all in the skies soon, Rob.
  15. A very special thank you to Mr. @DirkaDurka for providing the base flight plan to us! There is no better guide when traveling New Zealand than this guy! *We've made some minor modifications to explore more of the island and to fit our standard 2wk length. For this tour we'll be utilizing single engine light BUSH aircraft, it's a great time to have tundra tires fitted! New Zealand’s South Island is renowned for its mountains, lakes and glaciers, ski fields and hiking trails. Divided by the Southern Alps mountain range, it’s home to Aoraki Mt. Cook and several national parks. Weather permitting, we'll also make our way to the incredibly scenic Milford Sound Airport.START DATE: 8/8/2016FLIGHT PLAN: NZOM NZNS NZTK T010 NZKM NZLE N394 NZKI N393 NZMR NZWS NZGM T001 N165 NZAS NZRI NZTL NZMC NZHT NZUK NZOU NZOA NZWF NZLX NZDN NZRX NZQN NZGY NZMF T008 N061 NZRC Use either of the FREE software below to open the flightplan: - Plan G: http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/ - VFR Flight: http://vfrflight.org/en/index.htmlWe recommend the following add-ons for the ultimate VFR experience:WEATHER: - Active Sky Next (for real and historic weather): http://www.hifisimtech.com SCENERY (optional): - ORBX FTX Global Base: https://www.fullterrain.com/product/ftxglobal - ORBX FTX Global Vector: https://www.fullterrain.com/product/ftxgvector - ORBX New Zealand South Island: https://www.fullterrain.com/product/nzsi MESH: - FreeMeshX – Australia and Oceania: http://ninetwopro.com/freemeshx/ PLANES: - Airspeed target 110 - Single prop light Tundra fitted aircraft. - FREEWARE: http://frenchvfr.free.fr/download.php?lng=en Click P3D, click "Cessna 150-K 'TiBush of Lagaffe" or Piglet's PC-6C H2 Porter: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?42128-Piglet-s-Porter - PAYWARE: Aerosoft Wilga X, Aerosoft Britten-Norman Islander, SibWings Bird Dog, FlightReplicas Super Cub ULTRA, Carenado Cessna 185, 206, 207, Cessna Caravan, RealAir Scout, Lionheart Kodiak, etc...We'll see you in New Zealand!
  16. Edson and group, What do you think about a Canadian tour following each of the cities the Hip played on their farewell tour? Is it also possible to set it up that all money received from first class upgrades, etc get donated to cancer research? It would be a fun trip over a few days and could raise a few hundred dollars. Maybe raise the minimum first class upgrade to $5. Could even offer a prize for the person who sat in the first class seat the longest throughout the tour. Just a thought I had as they are finishing up the tour. Canuckshaw
