  1. Developer IndiaFoxtEcho has released an update for their F-35 Lightning package that includes PBR. In a post on their website, an extensive changelog describes the rebuilt internal and external models and the inclusion of PBR. In order to accomplish this update, the source models were completely rebuilt, resulting in, what the developer says, is a much better looking plane. Because the model files were compiled with P3D v4.4 tools, they cannot be used in earlier versions of P3D or in FSX. However, the developer has included non-PBR models for those who may prefer them. Moving forward, the project will only be updated for P3D v4.4. The update can be obtained here or from the site.   9. The release of Prepar3D V4.4 has developers both excited and shared about the new PBR material technology found within the simulator. As discussed in our interview with Adam, many developers have had their hands on it for a while. One such developer is scenery creator FSDreamTeam. The guys previewed Chicago O’Hare a while back, which was poised to make use of P3DV4’s new technology. Today, the team released a short teaser trailer showcasing how PBR will be implemented at the airport. The 2 minute video takes us on a journey though the airport and highlighting the various materials applied to parts of the airport. Whether that be glass, concrete or stone, each material now has its specific value meaning lighting will be accurately reflected. No word on a release date at this point. Chicago O’Hare (KORD) will be available exclusively for Prepar3D V4.   12. A few months ago, we shared details that Lockheed Martin’s next version of Prepar3D would include Physical Based Rendering (PBR). We are pleased to confirm from our exclusive interview* with Adam Breed that Prepar3D Version 4.4 will be released with PBR along with a range of new features and fixes. For those wondering, PBR is a technique which will allow the lighting engine within the simulator to react appropriately to the lighting. For example, metal surfaces will reflect light brighter with a shiny look and feel, whereas fabric-like materials won’t. It will also allow developers to create more visually striking textures and allow for faster production of photo-real production.   13. FSElite has obtained verified documents that suggest that Lockheed Martin are preparing to release Prepar3D V4.4 in Q4 of 2018. Even more exciting is the fact that these leaked documents point to version 4.4 being the first step to enabling Physically Based Rendering (PBR) textures in the simulator. The leaked documentation includes an internal email conversation from an internal Lockheed Martin developer addressing to members of the Lockheed Martin team with details about the upcoming release. The internal email dated August 13th states that “Prepar3D V4.4’s beta is available now”. Whilst the information has not been publicly confirmed by Lockheed Martin at this time, we have received confirmation about the validity of this information from a source familiar with the future of P3D. We first discovered these details when someone posted somewhat privy details in a popular Facebook group. We then took the evidence presented in that group, asked reputable sources within the development community and asked for verification. Further details were then sent to FSElite – all of which were then verified to be accurate. As you can imagine, these people wish to remain anonymous. This is not the first time FSElite reported on upcoming new features for Prepar3D ahead of time. We were the first to inform that version 4 would indeed be 64-bit.
